For those with automatic watches...

I no longer use my Rolex Automatic as I have magnetised the spring, again, but when I used it it was always worn so no need for a winder.

On the few occasions it was stored it was left to run down.

why are those winders soooo expensive?? is there a less costly alternative?

I recently began acquiring automatic watches but was unsure about the need to keep them wound. I understand that they need to be calibrated/tuned every few years but do they need to be constantly wound if not being used?

Will my automatics be harmed by not keeping them on a winder? I have dozens of watches and wear the automatics maybe twice a month.

Attach it to your pet and let them keep it wound!

I bought one from ebay that is leather and holds 4 on the winder and 6-8 on the bottom. It only cost $100-$115 shipped from Canada. Definitely great investment!

I haven't bought a winder....i just bite the bullet and reset when needed. FYI...the cheap winders you get off of ebay probably aren't that reliable. My good friend bought one and the motor went out within 2 months. Kept me from buying one.

Sharper Image has a watch winder in their new catalogue. Says it is the first totally silent watch winder. I think it was like $250.
