Love the Aussie V8 supercars and have taped nearly every race they have shown this winter on speed channel. It appears that it is the equal to NASCAR here in the states in terms of popularity. Is that correct?

Yes, you are correct - like nascar over there it is the number one category of racing here. We must be the only 2 countries where sedan cars are number one! The cars are really quite sophisticated and the driving pretty spirited. It is very much a FORD vs GM
