Chicago (IL) - Atari is working on "The Matrix: Path of Neo" - a PC and console game scheduled to be released in this year's holiday season. The game will allow gamers to relive "memorable" scenarios in the movie trilogy from the perspective of the main character Neo.
Path of Neo is the second collaboration of Atari's Shiny Entertainment development studio, the Wachovski brothers as creators of "The Matrix" movies Joel Silver, producer of the trilogy. Back in May 2003, Atari released "Enter The Matrix", a parallel timeline to "The Matrix Reloaded" and a bridge to "The Matrix Revolutions", which has sold nearly 6 million units worldwide to date, according to Atari.
The new game takes a different approach and selects major events of three movies and gives the player an opportunity to slip into the role of Neo and play "important" scenarios. The Wachovski Brothers are scripting and directing the path the players will take. Atari said, the characters of the game are created close to the likeness of Keanu Reeves, who played Neo, Laurence Fishburne ("Morpheus"), Carrie-Ann Moss ("Trinity), and Hugo Weaving ("Agent Smith"). The game will also include footage from all three movies as well as The Animatrix.
The game will be available for the PC platform as well as Playstation 2 and Xbox.
