Can I get a roll call of people from Florida and Georgia planning on attending NSXPO. If there are enough of us we can pool our resources and have our own transport truck to take our cars to XPO and back. Just an idea to throw out there. Feedback appreciated.

As it stands right now I plan to truck the car to Vegas and drive back home with a stop at The Dragon for a couple of days.

I for one am driving mine all the way there, if I pass your Semi loaded with NSX's I will follow or lead the way!!! LOL

I will be leaving on a tuesday morning or afternoon from Tampa, Im not sure the depature time yet but def leaving tuesday of that week

this will be my second long distance run with my NSX so am kinda looking forward to it.

what day are you leaving on the trip? I mean like i said Im leaving tuesday, and will be passing thru there tuesday night.

I'm planning of going but as of right now not driving. I might change my mind if there are enough people transporting their cars.

Planning on driving from Mississippi. My wife and I will be on your way through and a close friend is driving his 91 I think. He's in TN.
We are coming from NJ/NY/CT and will be in Knoxville on Sat. night 10/23.
Next day (Sun. 10/24) we leave at 8 am and will be staying Sunday night in Memphis. If you want to drive I-40 west, we would love to have as many of you join us on Sat. or Sun. in the caravan.
We leave Memphis hotel on Mon. morning at 7:00 am for Little Rock or Amarillo, depending on how much we want to drive Monday. Tuesday night will be spent in Albuquerque motel. We plan on pulling into Vegas on Wednesday night where we are booked at the host hotel.:smile:

I just talked to a buddy that just got back from that almost exact same drive and he told me it took him 2 days just to cross texas.. he said there are so many Speed limit changes it makes your head spin. State troopers everywhere, he suggest if you go around texas you would save almost a half a day in travel. yeah its more miles but you can cruise at 70 the whole way so its make up for it. I am looking at google earth right now tring to figure out a better route. but I should be pulling into the Host hotel about the same time as you guys. so I expect to see alot of you guys in route to vegas.. fun time I am so excited. then my car gets stolen HAHAHA that would be my luck

Texas is a biatch to drive across. I've driven the I-10 from El Paso to Florida and it is a terribly boring drive.

The panhandle is the smallest stretch of TX. 178 miles, 3 hrs., I-40. That's all!

Spoke to Dependable Auto Shippers today. The cost of our own enclosed car carrier, having the capacity for up to 8 cars would cost $9600 from South Florida to Vegas. $1200 per car is a pretty good deal. Anyone interested?

I would be leery of DAS. They shipped my car from TX in the remote past and ripped off the front lip and then claimed that it was like that. Also, picked up my car from a car impound lot where they dropped it off. One of the other MI guys also had a car shipped from CA whe he bought it and had some issues. I think that they are essentially a broker but if you get your own carrier, it may work.

I would not use DAS. I had my car shipped from California to Charlotte NC. They told me I would have the car within 2 weeks. After 3 weeks, I had to drive to ATL to pick it up, a 4hr drive one way. They reimbursed me $150....not enough. If you want the car in VEGAS for the EXPO, find another way.

There is a web site for auto transporters. You can lose the middle man/broker and talk directly to driver/owner. Cost is less and you can look @ feedback on carrier. You have to be a member though. I have saved alot of money using this site.

hugh,
how about the return trip? another 1200? 1200 seems reasonable given that it is almost coast to coast.
the several times i have gotten quotes to ship, i found that different carriers are more economical on different routes, rather than one particular carrier having better prices on all routes.

I used Alpine Transport for my car from Chicago to FL. It was $1000. They were pretty good and took good care of the car. I'll call and ask for a quote.
