hi everyone...I have a 94 with the flip up headlights. So when I turn the headlights on, the motor flips up unit up smoothly and normally.. However, when i retract them, they seem to sputter or "jump". the rate at which they retract has not changed, just the smoothness. I figure being this old, the tracks need lubrication somewhere.. but where?

anyone have this issue?

thanks

I don't think lubricating is going to solve your problem.
The motor just does a cycle when power is provided and what makes it go up or down is the positioning of the crank assembly.

There are a 4 parts that are pivot bearings that likely need replacement. They go into the arm on the retractor. Look at page 23-187 of the manual to see the arm and the bearing(s) I mention.

I have had to replace these parts for customers before.

Here on this illustration they are parts # 1-4

If you like you can order them from the vendor that provides this page. Their contact information is at the top of the page and the part numbers are listed.

Mine started doing the same thing, then one stuck half way. Remove the headlight and there are a couple of pivots on the linkage, I sprayed mine with WD40 then chain lube. Much smoother now.
