About the car:
91 w/85k miles, full interior
Removed spare tire
ZTEK catback
RM Intake w/very dirty open element filter.

Track conditions:
Went to Maryland International Raceway. It was ~90 degrees and very sticky, 86% humidity and on the verge of thunder storms all night.

First run:
Light smoking of the rears, trying not to get them wet through the burnout box.
Launched around 3k, bogged, hit 2nd, bogged, finally started rolling after 60mph. Details-

R/T...... .406
60'..... 2.264
330'... 6.149
1/8.... 9.263
MPH... 80.82
1000.. 11.911
1/4.... 14.128
MPH... 102.68

Second run:
Figured I'd launch at 4k this time, probably should have tried 5k instead. Felt like it bogged about the same as before. Details-

R/T...... .330
60'..... 2.269
330'... 6.116
1/8.... 9.201
MPH... 81.99
1000.. 11.806
1/4.... 14.002
MPH... 103.22

Damn drag racing, and damn these stupid US gear ratios! I think if it wasn't for the insane bogging in the first 330' feet or so that I could have shaved a good half a second or more off my time. It also doesn't help that it was my first time at the track with the NSX, and I haven't been down the 1/4 for nearly three years...

Looking at your trap speed and 60' numbers, i'd say you'd be good for mid 13's. Just work on getting your 60' time down to sub 2 seconds. Did you do the runs with TCS on or off?

That was with TCS off. I just needed more practice launching...

Yeah, you could easily bring your 60' foot time to 1.9. What ever your tire pressures?

It's all in the 60 foot! My best times have always been when I didn't peel out or bog down. Launching a NSX is an art! It' wasn't made to be a drag car. I don't think warming up your tires in any fashion help at all unless you have drag radials. I was asked once at the strip why I didn't warm up my tires... My transmission and clutch alone cost more than your car man!!!

That's funny, as I use to say to all the mustang squids that wanted to race me in my MKIV Supra "Naw' my tranny cost more then your car" (gertrag 6-spd....true)

On street tires I was able to get the 60' down to 1.8.... the rest followed through with a 13.7

91 nsx with just a cheesy exhaust.

ouch, you guys are making me feel weak... went for a single run last night... not good. Didn't launch well, bogged a bit.

'96T with 18/19s, GTLW, downforce/ uni, and titanium dave's shift block:

RT: .829
60' 2.482 (ouch)
1/8 9.58

1/4: 14.549 at 100.55mph

First time on a drag strip in over 12 years. At least I beat the hell out of the civic next to me... Oh well, something to work on I suppose!

What did you launch at?

i have a 92 with stock gearing and a comptech racing clutch.
doing the 1/4 mile am i better off starting in first or second and what RPM??
also - what is the best shift point for the next gears.??
TIA.

I would always start in 1st gear and launch around 3500 RPM's with the TCS off. That has always given me great results. I have several 1.9X's and one 1.88 60 foot.

Always shift at REDLINE!!!

That's what I was just about to ask. :)

If you read my post that was at sac I ran a 13.3 at 106mph give or take, dumping at 3 to 3500 rpm. with just exhaust, test pipes, and ecu chip. I was confident that I could hit a better time, but I didn't want to push too many runs. The nsx is as said from one of the other guys as "not a drag car" but it sure performs well on the track anyway. I only hit like a 2.09 on my 60' so if I could get it down im sure to hit a 13 flat. I hope I'm not being overly confident though. It was also my first time..
