I am getting my clutch replaced and want to do the timing belt/waterpump replacement at the same time.....

Is it faster to pull the entire drive train (engine and transmission) or just pull the transmission?

Its a 2001 with 46k miles.

Also assume I DONT have replacement coolant hoses (or it takes 2 weeks to come in)

thanks,

jared

It is about the same amount of time for the TB and water pump doing it in the car or taking the added time to drop the engine. It's just way easier to do with the engine out. Clutches are normally done by just dropping the tranny so I guess its up to you mech. on what works the best for him.

Someone mentioned that pulling the engine may require cutting coolant hoses/lines. Living up north (Canada) might be tough to find the parts.

Should this be a factor at all?

If you don't have the hoses it's kind of a crap shoot dropping the engine. I wounldn't pull off the 3 main hoses and try to reuse them after so many years. Don't risk an overheat.

I have pulled many engines(NSX), I have never cut any coolant lines. Personally I like to pull the entire assembly, but I know others don't like the idea. On older cars, its a good idea to replace the hoses, but in your case, I'd have your tech take a look at them and see if he thinks they seem to be in good working order. I'd imagine they would be with your year and milaege.

Why don't you order the hoses online, and then take the NSX in to have work done when you have the hoses? Assuming the mechanic have the other parts for the timing belt, water pump, and any other replacement accessories.

Call me stupid but which hoses should I order? There is the 'Hose Replacement kit' on Dali for 258$

Do I buy all of them?

Not familiar with the Dali 'Hose Replacement kit'. Hopefully the attachment will help identify what you will need to replace.
