False alarms

I am getting false alarms from the car alarm.

While I haven't checked the door sensors, I tried disconnecting the hood sensor per the FAQ, and that didn't help.

Any other way to disable the alarm?

I have the same problem. I think what I did is to disconect the front hood switch plug from the wiring(just disconect the male/female plug ends). This keeps the alarm system from activating because it thinks the hood is open.

According to the FAQ, this is the connector between the radiator cap and the release for the hood. I disconnected this connector and the alarm still activates...

Maybe this may be of help if your NSX is an early model:

It is a '91, but I don't think that's it. It doesn't alarm when the door is unlocked, jsut when it is locked and sitting for a while. I haven't had the time (or weather) to test it yet.

I was just disappointed it still alarmed after I disconnected the hood switch. Since the keyless entry is malfunctioning, that may be related.

I did some reading in the service manual, and I think the FAQ is wrong. According to the diagnostic test for the hood switch, there should be no connection when the hood is closed. Therefore, unplugging the connection is the same as telling the alarm system the hood is always closed. This would only fix false alarms if the hood switch was the one causing the alarm.

I disconnected my trunk switch and shorted it to indicate an open trunk and that really does disable the alarm system. I can lock my doors for now...

I will be able to test the trunk switch later by leaving it disconnected and seeing if I get false alarms.

It sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm... My OEM alarm does not open the trunk at all.. only locks and unlocks the doors...

No, it is a factory alarm - you misunderstood. It doesn't open the trunk, it senses when the trunk is open...
