Factory 2013 NSX info sent to dealers

Sorry he was polite and the OP had jumped shark with the 918 spyder thing so this thread hadn't become good for too much else. Of course now everyone thinks the car is going to go for $150k and be front engine with the now defunct 3.7 even though all the other info released is contrary to that:rolleyes:

It's Detroit. Let's meet at the strip club, then head over to the casino to throw some dice. After loosing our money, we can sell our blood at the bank to pay for our entry to the show, after which we can stumble out into the streets and take our night time shelter in one of the thousands of abandoned buildings that surround the convention center.

Let's do this D-Troit Stylz!

LMAO

Sounds like the recipe for Hangover 3

You are really making me miss my hometown... :frown:

Might have to hop a plane and join ya'll !
Jan 14th the Wings play the Blackhawks at the Joe @12:30, then Cobo for Auto Show, then Bouzouki's or "Windsor Ballet", then MGM Grand... so that you lose/win money at the END of the day/night.

Anyone have season tickets or a suite at the Joe?

The Nsx is aimed at the 918 hybrid coming out. Seems like Honda is trying to compete with them or be as good.
Hi factorynsxtech. This is very interesting information. Please tell us, the bit above also came from Acura? (that your general manager shared with you) or is that just speculation on your part?

I find it hard to believe Honda is targeting the Porche 918. You even stated the car would be priced at $144k, the 918 costs five times as much! Are you sure the 911 (turbo) isn't the target instead?

2013 Porsche is going to F1 with 4cyl turbo tech. So is Honda.
You mean 2014. F1 will still have the old V8's in 2013. The new engine rules will take effect only from 2014, and they won't be 4 bangers but V6's.

Where did you read that Porche will enter F1 in 2014? I follow F1 and didn't read that anywhere. Plus, a few weeks ago VW denied any interest in moving to F1.

Also, at the Tokyo motor show Ito told reporters "Of course we are interested but we think there are higher priorities than Formula One". Are you saying that Honda will indeed return in 2014? Did that came also from your general manager?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe we could setup a little meet there?
How about a small breakfast somewhere close to the place and then we'll all go to see it together?

That would be nice but depends on when you want to go. First three days are media and those tickets are the most expensive. The next couple of days are industry days tickets are cheaper then there's general public days where you have to deal with throngs of people. Media days are the best as the Auto companies put out food and drink ( yes alcohol ) and you get to see the debuts. It's very nice.

This guy doesn't know the Motorcity and following him is a recipe to never be seen again LOL

Doesn't it though lol

Can't wait to see if someone does lol

Fine, if you don't like my plan then I'll keep all the Windsor hookers for myself!

But seriously, if someone has a box for the Joe I want in on this.:eek::eek::eek:

Point 1 - have at it, Canadian hookers are all yours

Point 2 - umm.. hell yeah

Perry, I expect a full report on the Honcho/WingZ Concept. We know that is what is was based on. ;)

You know it counselor. I'm still waiting for an official announcement though. Sorry but I still don't trust Honda lol

The NSX had a very special assembly process. "The cars were assembled by approximately 200 of Honda's highest-skilled and most experienced personnel, a team of hand-picked staff with a minimum of ten years assembly experience employed from various other Honda facilities to run the NSX operation." Go search for the video online.

-The aluminum production was a first as far as mass production and assembly was concerned. Hand assembled and painted

-Titanium used in the engines. In the mid 80s (when the NSX was conceived), Ferrari probably did not even know what Titanium was

-The NSX was the target benchmark when building the Mclaren F1, not Ferrari or Porsche

-NSX's fit, finish, quality and reliability surpassed anything that Ferrari, Lamborghini or any other supercar makers could touch at the time of release. Many of these companies took almost two decades to catch up and are still refusing reliability and practical concerns.

So not only does the NSX look exotic, it does in fact have an exotic assembly process. The NSX was never a hypercar with impractical statements, it is a supercar with exotic origins or simply a sports car with a transverse mid-mounted engine.

-It did not stand out performance wise from the other 90s Japanese supercars, because they were all turbo and proposed to be supercars at the 280 ps capped range. What did you think was going happen when you put 5-6 cars in the same hp range together and see what happened? The feat was that the NSX did it all NA. Compare a factory-installed and sold Comptech supercharged NSX to those Turbo vehicles or better yet, go see what a simple turbo kit can do for the NSX.

FI on the NSX has been proven more reliable than most of the other Turbo vehicles that were designed from the factory.

+1

The NSX is an Exotic car by the unique design and thought process that went into it. It's not a Supercar since at the time the Countach 25th anniversary was the Supercar.

Supercar is a term used most often to describe an expensive high end car. It has been defined specifically as "a very expensive, fast or powerful car".

Stated in more general terms: "it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match", "it should be sleek and eye-catching" and its price should be "one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own".

However, the proper application of the term is subjective and disputed, especially among enthusiasts. So-called vehicles are typically out of the ordinary and are marketed by automakers to be perceived by the public as unusual. The supercar can take many forms including limited production specials from an "elite" automaker, standard looking cars made by mainstream companies that hide massive power and performance, as well as models that appeal to "hardcore enthusiasts" from "manufacturers on the fringe of the car industry".

In the United States, the term "supercar" predates the classification of muscle car. Among the numerous examples of the use of the supercar description include the May 1965 issue of the American magazine Car Life, in a road test of the Pontiac GTO, and how "Hurst puts American Motors into the Supercar club with the 390 Rogue" (the SC/Rambler) to fight in "the Supercar street racer gang" market segment. The "SC" in the model name stood for "SuperCar". The supercar market segment included regular production models.

The word supercar later became to mean a "GT" or grand touring type of car.
During the late 20th century, the term supercar was used to describe "a very expensive, fast or powerful car with a centrally located engine", and stated in more general terms: "it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match", "it should be sleek and eye-catching" and its price should be "one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own".

The supercar term has also been applied to technologically advanced vehicles using new fuel sources, powerplants, aerodynamics, and lightweight materials to develop an 80 mpg-US (2.9 L/100 km; 96 mpg-imp) family-sized sedan. "Supercar" was the unofficial description for the United States Department of Commerce R&D program, Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV). The program was established to support the domestic U.S. automakers (GM, Ford, and Chrysler) develop prototypes of a safe, clean, affordable car the size of the Ford Taurus, but delivering three times the fuel efficiency.

Had to go to the local Acura dealer this morning. The owner had just got back from Vegas. Showing all the new models. They had the "Ironman" NSX there. He took some pics. They were then led into a private room with security, no cameras allowed to view the new production model 2013 NSX . He said it looks pretty much like the movie car, except the interior is more reminiscent of our models. Mid engine 500hp. He said it was quite nice.

Out of all the threads and thousands of posts on this subject over the years, this one has hit me the hardest.
Mid engine 500 hp.
(or maybe I'm letting myself go down the primrose path a little too soon)

If true, you have just made me a very happy man. Although, my wallet may hate you....

Tapaderp

So we have two different people who were at the same event and were shown the same car. Both agree it looks like the ironman car. One says 450hp, and the other 500hp. One says front-mid, the other says mid.

Sounds like pretty much every Acura dealer was at this event, so go bug your local Acura dealer's GM for details! I'm sure we can piece together what was actually shown there...
