F355 article with a rip on the NSX at the end.

Yeah. That rubber and the fumes were from the engine coming apart.

???

lets not start knocking on cars here with rediculous assumptions of build quality.

the engine definitly does not come apart.

tacked mine 355 out in the canyons for 60-70 miles of hard driving and nothing came apart. they are soild cars.

both nsx and 355 are great cars. completely different. its like saying bananas are better then apples.... some like one some like the other.

keep it civil.

btw... how do you guys find these articles?!?! its off some dudes blog page, you must be googling all day to find these things.

.

Banana's have better aerodynamics.:tongue::biggrin: jk jk

[Spelling fixed ]

The Valve guides, however, may

how about the NSX snap ring? lets not be one sided here. every car has its problems. if you throw down on knocking points on the 355, keep in mind the nsx has some too. lets not make nsx owners sound like total 1 sided hot heads.

NSX: snap ring, climate control, window regulators, abs brakes.

355: shrinking interior leather, valve guides (very small number 96&97 only), convertable top.

both great cars, i dont understand why everyone stands so divided? its rediculous.

its like jet li and jackie chan.... both awesome.

btw the only people who i have seen rip on either cars are those who have never been in one or the other. the least qualified usually makes the most noise.

Rob, you gonna take me for a ride someday in that 355 next time I get my NSX serviced?

lol ya sure. 10 minutes warm up

im acturally going to fire it up today... first time in a couple of month and take it around the block. im excited.

Lets not forget the exhaust headers

Ive had extensive "training" in each including owning 2 NSXs and driving several F355s on track/street. I would have bought one (I do love them - pure sex!) but couldn't get past the potential mechanical pitfalls of ownership even in a well sorted one.

Case in point: Exhaust header cracks? No problem, shell out the $5k for a new set. Even wrap them. Guess what, it can happen again anytime. Replacing only delays the potential issue.

At least with snap ring, you fix it and its done.

yes i did forget exhaust manifolds.

get an aftermarket set like on mine and forget about it.

bottom line is if the original writer choose to rip on the nsx. thats his choice. we as a community are better then that and do not need to sink to beating our chests or bashing what is a very nice car to justify the real value of our nsx.

nsx rules. im sure thats why we are all here. 355 kicks some butt too.

i gota get back to work. have fun with the rest of the conversation :D

Don't get me wrong. I love them both. Just would step up to a 360 if I went the Fcar route.

I spoke to an F355 owner a few weekends ago. He told me that the F355 engine needs to be rebuilt every 20k miles. Is this true?

No but the money you will spend on "major" maintenance periods (every 3-5 years) will make you THINK you paid for a rebuilt engine.

Both cars are nice.....Alex Vizcarra from Gruppe M owns the cleanest F355 I have seen.....his NSX is pretty bad ass too.

I would like to hear what Alex would say since he owns both cars that are pretty modded.

F355 is faster hands down. Both cars have aftermarket headers, race cats and aftermarket exhausts. Well the only advantage being that the NSX has an ECU upgrade. Besides that and the missing two cyclinders i would say the modding is pretty similar. Gains were greater in comparison for the NSX where the symphony goes to the almighty 355.

My Boss at Honda back in the day was the biggest NSX advocate, always had one as a demo and thats how i got hooked. He got bitten by the F-Bug and drove his 348 daily for 16k miles without a single issue other than oil changes. Ferrari's like Porsches have their good and their bad, look at Acura who doesnt know how to make a transmission. Motors that can go until enternity and from snap ring NSX's to garbage 99-03 TL's tranny's, to Accord V6 and Odysseys tranny nightmare's. Every apple batch has a few sour ones. 911 are are bullit proof till you have one with a bad rear main seal, others go 200k without a rebuild. A solid PPI and maintance are 2 must have's to any purchase:wink:

If you replace the factory manifolds with Tubi manifolds, fixed for life no more issues and the Tubis do have the heat shields so you do not cause more problems by replacing them with an aftermarket manifold that does not have the heat shields (cooking the expensive electronic parts which reside in the engine bay). Looks like the manifolds on the 360s (to a lesser extent) and F430s are now having similar issues per a recent thread on F-chat. I had mine replaced with Tubi manifolds along with hyper-flow cats and never looked back.

Not true, major service is every 5 years or 30,000 miles. It does require the engine to be removed from the car, but it is a service that includes belt replacement, it is not a rebuild of the engine. These cars actually are more reliable the more you dirive them. They are much more expensive to maintain than my NSX was, but some of the stories out there are based more on rumor than fact. Make no mistake if you get a bad Ferrari (or most any exotic) you will burn through a ton of money in a hurry. PPI is paramount and not by the dealer selling the car. I loved my NSX and I love my F355, different cars, but both are best of breed in my book!

I called a Ferrari dealer by my house today, clutch for an 00 360 $5000, routine service interval...around $4500-$7000 depending on replacement parts needed. I have the itch but will be doing some serious saving until I find a well maintained, perfect and exactly what I want car:redface: Red/Black...as usual:biggrin:

I think I've met you. RTR 2006 right?

You're in this pic that has 2 ferrari owners (now, just 1 back then) right? (Don't need to say who, just if you are)
