Mine went on the sides, from vibrations and dirt between the housing and the aluminium. I think i have read at least one other one with the exact same problem area over the past few years here on prime.
Reparining is an option, but read my post above.
I got the AcuraNet history for my car from the dealer here in seattle and the dealer in Cal where the first owner bought it..no Evaporator in the history at 103k miles...guess my car was Lucky...Maybe It's an environmental thing, In 16 years of working on Acura's The Evaporator on NSXs has never been a big Issue here in the NW,
If you are having A/C work done DO NOT use refrigerant blends like "Freeze12" these products will contaminate your system and then in the future you will need to search out a shop that will Evacuate your car,because you no longer have pure R12 or R134a, the Fee for Disposal of "contaminated refrigerant" is aprox 50$ per pound!!..
Your best bet is to have your car properly Retrofitted to 134a.
