Friend send me a link about an NSX at a small dealership about 35 miles away from us. Ofcourse considering the price and the car being at a dealer out in the country, i was very sleptical but thought hey won't hurt checking it out in person.
Called the guy who won't take a deposit (why?), told me it's first come first basis and have 2 other people coming to check it out.
Friend confirmed it's a legit car store so of I went.
When I got there, found out the dealership has been closed 6-7 months ago, called the guy who was very surprised that I was at the address and told me to wait and he will be out in few minutes which he never did.
He blocked my number and no contact ever since.
The dealership pictures must be from one dealer and the name from another.
The closed dealer (address in the ad) did not look anything like what's in the ad.
Why didn't he take the deposit ?
What am I missing?
How would this scam play out.

I would remove the VIN from the title as it unfairly condemns this vehicle; rather instead list the stated scam dealership name and phone numbers.

My guess is that he was after a deposit after you *insisted* on giving one.

Most of these scams operate outside the united states. The websites are real legit looking and they use defunct car dealerships. This prays on alot of buyers who are comfortable with buying cars site unseen and just wiring payment (usually other dealers or collectors).Lucky he didnt get you since others have not been so lucky.They are praying on classic cars buyer as of right now but I use to see add like that on auto trader and cars.com. They seem to have moved to facebook since its easier to stay under the radar.

This is my car. Owned for about 18 months and love it. Folks at Callaway (a real place) were great to deal with.

Now that I see this website, all of the cars (pictures) seem to be from Callaway. For mine, the picture is right but the listed VIN is wrong.

Maybe they didn't take the deposit because you were so close and would be coming to get the vehicle shortly. They want "customers" who won't be expecting the car to show up for several weeks due to "transportation delays" and by the time they figure it out the scammers are gone?

Hopefully potential victims will do search on the dealership and click on the NSXPrime link. Should the title have the word SCAM in it?
