Engine not turning over. Starter?

Tried to start my 93 NSX (27,000 miles) this morning. Depress clutch, turn the key to position III, but the engine does not turn over at all. Complete silence. Lights on dash comes on fine. Battery appears to be fine. Turn on headlights and they're bright and DO NOT dim at all when I attempt to start the engine, indicating that the starter motor isn't drawing any current. Checked most of the "big" fuses in the engine comparment and they look fine. The "starter motor" terminal coming out of the fuse box shows 12 Volts.

Any ideas on what else to look at before I have it towed to the dealership? I there any chance thtat the battery is the problem, even though the headlights are bright? I've never had a problem starting it in the 6 years I've owned the car. I know the starter won't turn over if you don't have the clutch in. It doesn't appear that the clutch went out or anything as there's still the same tension in it when I depress it that it has always had.

Many thanks.

racernsx25,

These are the the most probably possibilities. Not necessarily it priority order.

1. FUSE #29 in Main Fuse Box (50A)
2. Clutch switch
3. Ignition switch
4. Starter Relay (behind the glovebox)
5. Security System (this will defeat the starter)
6. Starter

The on-line service manual section 23 is where to look. Considering the chapter alone is over 300 pages, it would be best if you ask some specific questions if you decide to get into it:). You will need a volt/ohm meter and time to do some reading.

Larry,

#5's the winner! The security system. The little security clip on the underside the steering column (never knew exactly where it was before) had somehow come slightly unseated. I must have bumped it with my knee or something or maybe it got jarred lose over a period of time. Anyway, I pulled it out and re-seated it and she started right up.

Many, many thanks! You saved me a possible towing and service charge, and associated hassles :)
