You could always go steal it. I bet the owner would never know

Actually....that would be strange to be the owner, and to have POSSIBLY had you car stolen two years prior and have never noticed!! The police report would be almost comical... :D

I rented a townhouse to the son of a well known Japanese electronics company back in the late 90's. The son was getting a degree from Cornell University while here in the US. When he finished his degree he left. Just walked out the door and left everything. His rent was paid 6 months into the future so I thought he was coming back. After the rent went unpaid for one month I sent out certified mail to find out what was going on. After the legal amount of time had passed without an answer, I entered the apartment to clean it out. This guy left everything, top of the line computer, designer clothes thousands of dollars in Armani, Gucci, Prada, all the furniture, electronics equipment galore, most of the clothes were worn and not clean. I reached into the pocket of a Prada ski coat and there was 500 dollars in cash! By the time I had checked the rest of the pants and coat pockets I had near 4k in cash.
What totally blew my mind was he also left his two cars a Audi A6 and a Prelude, both less than a year old and completely paid for. It took many months of paperwork but we did end up with the cars in the end too.
I still have not heard from him or his family.

Wow, hell of a story.
What electronics company was that ? Seems like you made off pretty well after he left !

See....now people like that are just wasteful, and boggle the mind. I mean, even if someone is so rich that they just do not care, you would at least think that they would be courteous enough to let you know they were leaving permanantly.

I know this is an odd question, but did he lock the townhouse? Just curious if he even bothered locking the place if he did not really care about the stuff? Well, at least you got two FREE cars out of it. How long did you keep them?

Here is a hint the company starts with an S. Even with the month of unpaid rent and the two months to turn the townhouse around there was a good pile of funds left over. I have had tenants leave a lot of valuable items behind but this guy gets the blue ribbon award. There are so many Cornell students who are ultra wealthy. It is not uncommon for them to just pick up and leave. I had another wealthy Argentinean gentleman leave behind an entire apartment full of stuff in the past too. He did however give most of the more desirable items away the day before he left.
The Onkyo stereo in my garage is from a Cornell student who left for Finland and never returned. Great little system for the price.

The townhouse was locked. The keys for the Prelude were in the ignition and the key for the Audi was on the kitchen counter. Both the cars were sold as soon as I received the paperwork and a nod from an attorney.

great tale....

Back to the NSX in Canada.....what is the update?? :)

Can't seem to catch the owner.
Most likely out of town working.
No worry about him not being around, he owns the penthouse suite.
Sure there is money there somewheres!
Keep trying daily!
I'll be the first to let you know as soon as I talk to him.

Watch...I would almost bet he forgot that he owned the NSX. You will call him up and he will be like, 'Wow....I thought I had one of those. Now if I could only remember where I parked it.' :D

Any updates on this NSX? Curiosity is killing me!

He is trying to contact the owner....we will just have to stay patient. :)

Wow the penthouse suite!! Sounds like the owner does not really care about the car. He probably is always out of town and has a driver that takes him around from place to place and this was an extra car, that he does not care about. It is ashame that he doesn't care about an NSX!!!

I need to take about a week off and drive myself up there to see this poor car... :(

this is a crazy thread.

Meeyatch, don't you have enough NSX's to be going hunting for another one ??:)

LOL!! You can never have enough NSX's. Plus, I have always wanted a Sebring Silver one. They look SOOO wonderful when the sun sets and the car is all freshly waxed. The car looks like a bullet. :)

Car is still there this morning, in same condition!
Still have not had an answer on any of the calls I have made or the message I have left.
I will not give up!

HAHA!! Now that is one heck of a strategy. :D

Updates on sleeping beauty??

Any word?? Updated pics maybe?? :D

Nothing at all!
Never an answer, I'll have to work a different angle.

Now, the number is disconnected. Funny when you own a very expensive penthouse. Got to get down there this week and see if the car is still there and perhaps leave a note on it. Otherwise will hit up the building management again and or the police buddies.

My silver NSX is even dirtier than this one. I only freak out when people write on the body, window writing is OK. I'm a bad owner.
