I'm looking for a good deal on insurance. I moved to Southern California from Northern Virginia 2 years ago. Prior to my move, I got 4 tickets ( 3 speeding, 1 red light ). My question is, when I apply for insurance, if i don't report those violations from the other state, is the insurance company going to find out about them? As far as I know, different state DMV's have very little intra-communication...

You are correct, It is highly unlikely that CA will ever find out about VA tickets. Most states are not reciprocal with others. A few exceptions are high transit states like FL. They check with NY, NJ, MA because so many people live in both places... in other words , do not disclose and you'll be fine.
