NSX related b/c I am buying another one :D

If everything checks out I should be buying another NSX next Wednesday (5/21/03) in California. The problem is I live in Maryland, but instead of shipping it I plan on driving the 2800+ mile route home, consider this a vacation from grad. school and work.

To get to the point, can anyone provide a safe parking location and a place to shower and sleep for the night? I am extremly weary of motel and hotel parking lots; especially in places I am unfamiliar with. BTW, I don't snore, slobber, smoke, or drink excessively and will be on my best behavior.

Anyway, if someone is willing to help, please let me know via PM or email, or PM me for a number if you prefer to talk on the phone. Here's the route I am taking, it's basically a straight shot on I80E shooting through the heartland.

Yahoo Maps and directions

Addendum: (Southern route)

Alternate route for my adventures out west. Basically the first 1/3 of the trip is now tentatively covered.

Depending what day you are in Indy, I may meet up with you....keep me informed.

I'll be in the Sacramento area, which is east of San Francisco if my memory serves me correctly...

Chris, I sent you a PM.

Anyone in the south (along I-17, I-40, I-44, and/or I-64) willing to help out?

You can stay here in Albuquerque if you're passing through New Mexico sometime before Memorial Day. I'll be out of town after that.

PM me if you'll be coming through Albuquerque and need a place!

BTW, your map has you taking the northerly route.......

Chuck

Hey, I'm in grad school too and can't afford an NSX yet. Are you selling crack or spare kidneys on the side?

Chuck, PM sent, thanks!

How did you know  :p

Seriously, I started working after finishing my undergrad, but returned to school for my masters a few years ago. I will be done with my degree this winter. How bout you?

I am currently working on my general exam (a fake grant proposal akin to Cartman's anal probing) and if I pass I hope to have my PhD in 12-18 months. I thought hard about that white coupe Hunting ridge has, but my income is grant based and running out shortly so there was just no way to do it.

That's about 2 1/2 hours east of me. I live on the coast, practically on the beach. There are a couple of Sac. members that might come through for you though. If not, I'm just a phone call away.

If you travel on I-70, I have ample room for you and your car. I'm in Columbia, MO (1/2 way between KC and St. Louis). Just give me a shout.

Finest regards,

Ben

Hi Hank, I'd put you up, but I live in VA so I guess you won't be needing my help. To all others out there, I've met Hank and he's a nice, smart young man & a regular poster on this forum. This is his second NSX, after sacrificing his old one for money to help a family member w/ a serious health condition. Good luck Hank & make sure we all get to see your new ride (the Yellow one?) Drive safely!

Eddie

if you decide to take i-70 thru Kansas city you are welcome to stay with us. we have plenty of room--you have your own guest room with bath, and a place in our garage for your nsx. im out of town in vancouver until sunday night ---page me monday morning if your interested. 800 678 6310. my three yr old would get a kick out of seeing another nsx at our house:D

Thanks for all the help guys, in all honestly I didn't expect all these positive responses.

Ben and huckster - PMs sent, thanks again!

Eddie - I really appreciate the vouch, I'll see you at the next DC/Va/MD meet!

Have a safe drive buddy. I'll vouch for Hank also. He's a cool guy. The only gripe about him is that he goes to UMD but hey, no one is perfect. ;)

yaaaay! :)

Hey Hank

Glad to see you're getting another NSX! Obviously I can't help you, but be sure to stop by if you're ever in eastern CT. For those who don't know, I bought Hank's previous NSX from him.

I've made the trip a few times (from VA to OR and back) and I don't know where you're planning on stopping, but it usually takes me 3.5 days with 4 legs: Portland->Boise, Boise->Cheyenne, Cheyenne->Chicago, and Chicago->No VA. The Portland->Boise leg is the .5 day leg and the rest are approx 12-13 hr legs. Not sure if this helps for your planning, but I thought I'd offer it - since offering to let you stay at my home in VA won't help you much. If you keep to that kind of schedule it's a pretty comfortable drive and you won't want to shoot yourself half way through.

Dave - hope the car is treating you well. Did you get a chance to try out the tires yet?

Optimist - thanks for the info, I am actually thinking of taking the southern route now and then move up into MO, and then get back onto I70.

ak - We'll talk about ACC supremacy later, BTW, are you up for some 'range' this Saturday? Forecast's looking beautiful.

If you go thru Amarillo, I have a building there that you could stay at. Let me know so I can arrange it with the manager. Would be very safe. I have taken my X there and it was fine.

If you come down thru Dallas/Fort Worth, can do the same but it is Colonial weekend.

PM me.
