Driving Ambition vs. SOS Laminova intercooler

I have mine off the car because I'm have my motor built to a 3.5L. I will check on having it copied but refined. I am having someone quote me on 10 units now. I will post the price as soon as I have it.

Thanks for your kindness Ken!

I'm very interested. The best part is that it isn't very high above the motor and has a huge core. I hope this can be adapted to a 1.7L Autorotor without much fuss.

I have had the 1.7 , 2.3 and the 2.9L SC mounted to this and they all fit fine.
the top plate can have any cutout in it anyone needs.

That's good news.

While you're at it. Can you inquire if it's possible to incorporate some soft of velocity stack into each port? It doesn't have to be big. Just a suggestion. Perhaps even smoothing out the welds will be more than adequate.

I'm not sure what you are asking. However this photo was taken right after I finished welding but before any smoothing and polishing took place.

Ah! that answers my concern. Nice, i'm excited.

The bellmouth (aka velocity stack) I was thinking about were something like this welded to each port opening. Not a big deal and may not fit considering the space restrictions. Just a thought.

That would be fantastic

I did get some pricing back for a custom sheet metal 3400.00 is what I was quoted. This is for intake with the Top plate milled and drilled for your application. The heat exchanger would still be needed. I have a few photos for reference of the quality of work they do. Of course the best option is have one made and make cast aluminum copies. Anyone interested? Ken

I guess after talking to several people in the intake world I decided to keep my intake and improve the flow. I started out by cutting my heat exchanger.
This will be welded back and allows room to move a lot of air.

Just a little update. I have welded the heat exchanger back up and pressure tested it's all good. I also sent my intake to Wilson intakes and they made some big improvement. They removed all the turbulence and added weld so they could reshape the runner inlets. They said it is a night and day difference and the CFM went way up:)

Off topic but of "gee whiz" interest is the 2.9l blower is larger displacement by far vs. the stock ford gt blower on the 5.4l motor. They use a 2.4l unit.

I'm just amazed a 3.0 l motor can handle a 2.9l blower. I don't know anything about internal combustion physics though, so maybe it's not that impressive?

The big diffrence is CFM. The 2.3L flows 1389 CFM per rev and the 2.9L flows 1720 CFM per rev. Whipple told me they both rob the same HP to spin.
So I went with more CFM and less heat.

Quick update:

I just love this setup.

My NSX with 285 wide Hankook Ventus R-S3 is spinning out from a roll and in 2nd and 3rd gear I still have to watch out for not enough straight line grip when it's out cold.

I totally agree and understand why 450rwhp~ is a solid number for the NSX chassis.

Anything more than that and I can totally imagine the NSX fighting you on public roads.
