Ok its raining in San Diego and my wife just informed me that the driver side window leaks at the top where it meets up with the roof. Is this a common problem?

Where does yours leak from, front side or back side? Mine leaks a little too from the front side. Your windows could be out of adjustment, I think that will cause a leak.
It leaks all the way across the top, mainly toward the back though. I notice that when the top was off the window vibrated a little though and now that you bring up adjustment I will have my wife take it to the dealer and look into it.

i had the same problem before too, and I had my friend (who's a mechanic) to adjust the window tighter.
It still leak at times... also, with the age and mileage of my car, the plastic of the front holder is a little wear out, as it also account for some wind noise at over 90mph... I was just excuse it the rubber molding is all gotten old and that's the way it is, (unless I want to folk out thousands for those "rubber" which I won't.)
Granted, the water leak is very minimal.
I just replaced my windshield through insurance, the roof trim/molding had to come off when installing windsheild... Strange thing, after the install, I had no water leak nor wind noise, so I suspect the removal the roof trim somehow realighn the molding?! and made a tighter seal between the glass and the rubber trim.

I had a leak in my car also. The leak was at the back where the targa meets the body. It dripped right where the outside passenger shoulder would meet the seat. After examining the area i noticed when i put the targa back on one of the rubber little flaps was bent under a crease instead of over it. I simply took my finger and readjusted its position and no more leak.
It may be something as little as that. You should check and see before taking to the dealer.
