I didn't know they offered 'smoked' clear coat. Kinda a contradictory of terms isn't it???

the standard clear coat is literally "CLEAR" and the carbon weaves are seen fully in its original form... the "SMOKE-clear coat" is a candy tinted translucent smoke color. the finished texture is JUST as shiny and smooth as clear coat, only that the tint or tone is a few shades darker. this allows for the weave pattern to sit back more subtle and almost looks black in dark light... but in sunlight, the weaves can be seen... looks awesome if you ask me...

I kinda did too but apparently there is more than one variety of clear coating. Although I don't think DF is offering more than just the standard one which is probably all 99% of the buying public expects or knows about, myself included.

Dude, after 7000 posts/replies and you should know about this kind of stuff.

DF Type R wing with Smoke Clear coat preped by MV design. As you can see, the CF weave can only be seen under the light, even with strong lighting, portion of it is still invisible at certain angle.

DF Type R wing with regular clear coat, also prepped by MV design.

The quality of clear coat is excellent. No orange peels at all.

We actually now apply this type of coating on all of the CF parts now, unless otherwise specified. It costs us more, but we believe it is the best finish on our carbon fiber components.

There has been alot of people messaging me about the last few wings. Remember that it is first come, first served! I am going to try my best to accomodate everyone that wanted one.

i agree... the "smoke" treated clear is definitely nicer... the same smoking process can be done to black out the LED light... i did it to my wing..
