Down Force intake Scoop.. Wow!

But this does not include the UNI filter does it? If so it is a **really** good deal! If not then the $/hp is pretty bogus if the HP is from the filter like people say.

Several members mentioned that the intake sound is wonderful with the SOS one. I assume this one will do the same. That is the main reason I bought this, not really because of the HP.

it's all in da scoop, babeee...

It's not confirmed whether the intake_scoop or the aftermarket filter provides the h.p. gains. For reference, my K&N added 1-2h.p. to my '91... (falls well within the range for margin of error) Yes, the OEM air-filter seems to have a greater surface area, but the K&N sounds much nicer (slight roar when you launch, and blip the throttle at other times).

Running back-to-back dyno pulls w/ the intake_scoop w/ an OEM filter, and then an aftermarket filter can clear up any misconceptions.

I personally expect the majority of the power gain (rwhp), whatever it maybe, to be due to the intake_scoop.

The filter is only $50~$60. Some people may already have it on the cars

Never believe what peopel says. Test it out for yourself.

-Cantrell air in take scoop is A COPY of TAITEC scoop. ha!

Just a friendly note to remind you that the Cantrell Air Induction System is not a copy of any other product. It was a product researched and designed 4 years ago by Will Cantrell.

The product you see on the GT-ROM.net site was a copy created by the owner of GT-ROM who secured a sponsored AIS with out the permission of TAITEC. Unfortunately, the product being promoted on this thread was also copied from an AIS provided to the owner of the company on a sponsorship basis.

best regards,

I'm using K&N filter with stock box. Of all the intake box I brought in the pass from Comptech to ARC, ext. The DOWNFROCE one works best . I can really tell the different in performance , most of all its the price is right!...hehe!!

what next?

at what rpm range do you experience the gain?

how about the sound?

Re: Down Force intake SCOOP..WOW!!

ok i installed it yesterday

if anyone needs help let me know..
since he did not provide any instructions..

when installing this intake, i had to shove and force (in right position) the intake to go in, you can't slide in one part of the intake at a time..
also it is easier to go ahead and take the air intake box completely out..

sounds great I love it, cars seems much louder at VTEC, and I feel like i get better throttle response..

thats just me..

You live in the same city though, right? Mira Mesa is the location listed in your profile which is a 'burb of San diego, and Downforce.biz is registered to a San Diego address. I was just asking an obvious question. If the answer is no, just say no, you don't have to get all worked up.

You're Funny!
In the past I've said a lot of good things on other products, from Dali Racing to Stacy's products and SOS dose that mean I got PERT from them too?.. Dali Racing located in the same city as I am, that's also mean I'm in busniess with them?

Why won't you just answer my question about whether this is a copy of the Cantrell intake?

P.S. This is the reason I was asking about any affiliation with the vendor. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55036 I hate people like this as you can see many others do too. If you are not buddies with the vendor then that is cool, you just had to say no.

did your come with the screws? mine just came in with the brackets.

someone mentioned having to remove the air box as well. Did you have to do that? I didn't.

I did have some problems lining up the fender liner. It is pressing against the scoop and caused it to move out of position a little. I had to force it back it.
Did you run into the same issue?

Other than that, it went in OK. Didn't have a chance to drive it yet since I finished at 1100pm last night.

Re: Down Force intake SCOOP..WOW!!

I have one recommendation. this scoop does not have any drainage. I drilled a small hole on the bottom for drainage purpose.

Yes that is the reason I am interested in it as well. I am just trying to make sure I understand what is included since someone was talking about $/hp, but the only dynos I have seen included the UNI filter.

Re: Down Force intake SCOOP..WOW!!

Will someone post step by step information on how to install the intake?

Thanks,

I don't buy products to test them. I buy products that are proven by testing.

Re: Down Force intake SCOOP..WOW!!

Hi

How would this intake work in (heavy) rain? Would that be a problem?

Regards

Once you remove the wheel liner. It is very self explanatory. 3 screws to remove the old scoop. 4 screws to install - 2 attaching the brackets to the scoop and 2 on the other end of the brackets attaching to the body.

You can't really go wrong. Just the putting back the liner is a bit challenging.

I don't drive my car in the rain but if you do...you can drill a few small holes in the back of the scoop so rain water can excape.

Humm.... I think it would be fine in heavy rain, but if a big gulp of water is splashed directly into the scoop while you are driving, water will most likely make it into the air box. Whether the air filter will block it, not sure...

I am in SCAL. So I am OK.

My Friend used the Dali Racing scoop on his NSX and have not problem driving in the rain.. I don't know how heavy Martin is talking about, but if is too heavyof a rain you shouldn't drive you NSX at all...:)

Hi

Well I seldom drive in the rain. If I am out driving and it suddenly starts to rain I have no choice. But I usually take my baby out only in the dry.

However I have been known to take vacations to lets say Germany where they have these Autobahns. Going down there doing 100mph in the rain is often the case.

drilling holes will cause problems?

hmmm... Drilling holes into the scoop would compromise air-flow, or that would be insignificant? I drive my NSX regularly, and at times I do get caught in some massive downpours even on the highways (major splashing, etc).

Thanks
