Doing 6,300 mile road trip...anyone have tips / place to stay?

Yellowstone is a must! When in Minneapolis stop into Matt's Bar on 35th and Cedar. They have the best burgers- a Jucy Lucy. It is one of those hole in the wall places that has great food.

Excellent! Thank you. That is what I am looking for.

Nice trip. Have a good one. If I had known the NSX peeps were this friendly I'd have asked for the same thing a few years back when I drove from California to Key West, FL and back haha.

You need to adjust your schedule and direction to include

EST FEST

this weekend!

Seriously, what could be better than that????

I would have liked to be there, but a personal matter stepped in. :(

Sounds like a plan to me. Last year I completed one of my goals for my NSX: Highest point accessible by road, lowest point, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans (NOT all on one trip)

If you come through Denver, you can easily match three of these four. You will automatically be on the (1) PCH, Death Valley (2) is not that far from the Pacific, although you would have to plan well in advance to be on the correct side of the Sierras ( and miss some of the PCH). Mt Evans (14,256') is visible from my house in Denver (although the road is only open 10 - 12 weeks/year. It's your call.

My next trip is to Coeur d'Alene from June 25 - 29, and then up to Banff and Jasper before returning to Denver. My wife has a lawyer meeting in Idaho, so we will drive up through Grand Tetons and Yellowstone on the way up, and come home some other way, since it will be the 4th of July weekend.

Depending on your timing, we might be able to meet in Coeur d'Alene, or if you want to try for Mt Evans, you are more than welcome to our guest suite (the kid's room (she is now 28 and living with her husband in Silver Spring, MD) complete with washer/dryer) and additional attached room. Great food in Denver -- great theatre if you have the time, also.

Keep everyone posted -- and watch out for snow in the Rockies through the first half of June.

Mark

Mitch I am bit out of your way but you are more than welcome to stay at my place. I am in Tyler, Tx.

Sounds like a fun trip. I need to do that some time with a friend.

This is my first post. I had to respond it's like a mirror of the trip i took 2 weeks ago. I drove from Long Island to Calgary after just purchasing the nsx from a local Acura Dealer. If i had not taken the Garmin i'd still be there. Drove through all the northeastern states through the Dakota's and into the black hills.Stayed in Deadwood and took in Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse then up through Wyoming and Montana over the border and home to Calgary. I did'nt make any reservations and pretty much flew by the seat of the pants the Garmin helped a lot. Eight hours of driving a day is what i averaged and it was not difficult. I must recommend the drive from Calgary to Vancouver it is about 12 hours with the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the world with great highway. Any questions please respond. The Bucket list is full hopefully we all get to shorten it a bit. You will have a great time.

The funny thing is that I just bought a Garmin last week when I was in Texas and drove home to Indianapolis, and it helped me out in a huge way! How many miles was your trip?

The other funny thing is that you references The Bucket list. When I mapped this out on paper a few weeks ago I titled it 'The Bucket Trip'. LOL!! I guess we must be thinking the same thing.

Sounds like a great trip! How many miles was it? That car looks like it took quite a while to wash. LOL!! :D

3000 miles on the nose. the time alone was by design , had lots of friends ask if they could co pilot and i realized it was more about me. i think buying the car was almost an excuse for the adventure. without sounding to philosophical i am sure you are enjoying the time to reflect (turn the tunes up and change when you want and stop and go when you want). i can relate and hope you are enjoying the moment. oh yah the car is amazing.

I always find that I regret NOT stopping some place or taking that extra long way SOOOOOOOOOOO much more than the rare times that it pisses me off.............

Just an idea for you. In case of an emergency, be sure to keep some Phone #'s handy from the NSXCA directory for each region your passing though, I'm sure we would be glad to give a hand as needed, or even meet up with you. When you get to Monterey area, shoot us an email.

Have safe journey!! "Enjoy the Ride!"

As I said, it was NOT all one trip. Headed to New York in 2004 on a trip almost all on 2-lane highways, including across Canada from Niagra Falls to Detroit.

Mt Evans -- this highest point -- I can see from my office window and I can get up there in about 45 minutes.

Now the Pacific and the lowest point is a whole 'nother story. I made that trip in October 2007 and it totaled 4700 miles. I drove US 50 out to Reno, NV to pick up my brother, and then traveled down to Death Valley. Death Valley National Park is the largest NP in the lower 48 states at about 3.5 million acres. I remember discovering as a kid that the highest and lowest points in the US (no lower 48 in those days) were less than 50 miles apart and they still are. I always wanted to go there, so I did.

I then traveled out to Santa Clarita and had Rob (ron97) install a new A/C compressor, Timing Belt, Water Pump, etc, etc to ready the car for its next 90,000 miles.

From there it was time to introduce my NSX to the Pacific Ocean via the Pacific Coast Highway.

We drove up almost to Oregon via the Coast Readwoods near Humbolt, CA and Mt. Shasta, but the weather was el crapso so we headed back east. We provided a rest stop for a sea gull along the way, one of the hazzards if you actually drive your NSX.

It took about an hour to clean off the car after arriving home. Actually it was Magnesium Chloride from Vail Pass, which was in blizzard conditions as I crossed it. It removes very easily if you get right to it.

For what it is worth, the car will be in the Cerebral Palsy Exotic Car show this weekend, along with about another dozen NSXs from the mountain region and about 400 other cars.
