Do you remember the day you bought your NSX?

My father just picked up his new (to him) '91 silver in Florida today. He upgraded from a '94 Mitsu 3000GT VR-4 (before that he had a '91 VR-4). So I talked to him on the phone tonight, and he sounded like a little kid he likes his car so much. Among his praises "I was worried it would get away from me, it's so easy to drive" "It handles like a dream but isn't bumpy or loud like a race car" "Everybody looks at it". And on and on. I asked him "so was it worth the money" his response "yes, 10 times over". Even my mother who refused to ride in his VR-4 most of the time says she likes it, she doesn't feel like she's sitting on the floor and she thinks it looks nice.

I've been trying to get my dad to buy an NSX for close to 10 years, and I am so happy for him that he finally did. Without this website and the NSX community (NSXCA etc.) this deal probably wouldn't have happened, so thanks to those of you who make the community what it is. And remember that out there somewhere in Florida is a man experiencing the magic of the NSX like many of you experienced for the first time not too long ago.

Congratulations to you and your father cmarsh90!! We wish him many years of fun-filled NSX enjoyment!!

Your post seemed to imply that you are the conduit of information between Prime and your father. Why don't you ask your father to join, and share his expertise and experience with us. We'd love to have him -- or does he post already?

Congratulations once again!!

He knows about the site, but internet bulletin boards are a bit foreign to him. But who knows maybe he'll start posting. None the less he's now an NSXCA member, and I think he'll probably go to NSXPO this year, perhaps I'll join him.

I remember the day I bought mine, it was also the day I first drove one. I dumped the 996, got a 9000 mile NSX and got a decent sized check back!!! Now, THAT was a good day!

Bought mine 5 mos ago, and still grinning. Fairly new to the online forum thing as well, in fact started with prime. Tell your father to be careful though for it can be quite addicting.

Hope your old enough to drive Dad's new ride.

Congratulations with your father's purchase!!
I'm sure he will enjoy the car. My own father has always declined trying out mine because he's too afraid of damaging it.
Try him to join or visit this website. But the posts above are correct. Both the NSX and Prime can be very addictive. Never before my NSX did I spent so much time thinking about a car, looking for details, books, magazines, DVD's etc. And this site is the one I probably spend the most time on.

I too had a ITR 98 #576 (hence john576) you know the color. I miss that car so much, but had to get rid of it due to long commutes and Im a compulsive "road tripper" so my right leg couldnt deal w/o cruise control after 30K.

I remember it well. Still smiling, pinching myself, and admiring it every time I pass it in the basement not to mention how I feel every time I get in for a drive. How about a picture taken of me driving off the lot within about thirty seconds of being handed the keys. It definitely keeps the memory fresh.

Congrats!! I bought my first NSX about 2 years ago. I took a half day off from work, flew to Florida to look at the car and drove it back overnight to make a 9 am business meeting in Ohio. That's one trip I will remember for a long time...Needless to say, I left work early that day. With the last ounce of energy, I managed to clean the car up and even put on a fresh coat of wax!! Anyway, welcome to the family of proud NSX owners...your dad will have no regrets!!

I remember picking my car up....it had 57,474.4 miles on it, was in a storage unit where it had been sitting for a while, and was happy to know that I was taking it home...that was June 4, 1999 and I still love my car.

Congratulations, the NSX does wonders for your soul and puts a smile on your face! I bought mine a little more than an year ago, and yes, permagrin the day I got it. That was a great day. Although I may be a little different than most on here. I made a quantum leap in the sports car world when I bought my NSX. I went from a lightly modified '90 Nissan 240 SX that I had for a long time, up to the NSX. The 240 got totaled, so I went for it and put together the money to buy the NSX, which is what I always wanted. I bit the bullet on some expensive repairs since, but I have no regrets. I absoulutely love to drive my car. Enjoy!

I still remember the day I bought mine - December 20, 1990. The sun was shining and the car was gleaming red in the sunlight. (In the winter here, any clean car tends to stand out from all the salt-covered cars.)

Not necessarily.

When I bought mine, it replaced my 76 hp '84 CRX for track use, but the CRX remained my daily driver. Which means I went from a car with a $6600 MSRP to one almost ten times as high.

Obviously I still remeber my purchase, as it was last Friday. I'm not sure if the grin on my face will ever go away.

I get to go from a 02 PSD Excursion to an NSX every day from now on. I thought I might have some adjustment time after getting the NSX, but the adjustment comes each time I get in the Excursion when I have a mental lapse of sorts, being accustom to how the NSX handles. The Excursion just doesn't move in and out of traffic with the same agility.

I bought mine in 1999. Traded in a vette.
Have been obsessed by this car ever since.
Every ride makes me feel like the first one.
Giddy, child-like bliss.
A local jobber that sees me driving(when it's not winter!) say's he and his wife/kids/family get a big kick out of the my apparent joy and big smile on my face.
I feel transformed when I get in.
It's a spiritual vacation for me. I smile just thinking about driving it.
It makes me feel like I did when I was a kid driving my go-cart.(MC9 w/fuel/direct drive/disc brakes/stacks etc.)
Maybe it's foolish enjoying a machine this much but I can't help it.

Remember the day? I remember the whole damn week. It starts off with my wife finally convincing me that I should have fun with some of my stock option $ and I should go buy an NSX. I've already planned a week's vacation to visit my parents and get some chores taken care of. So I drive the wife's '94 Integra 550 miles to my parents place in Oregon and visit for a couple of days. While I am there i check out ads and my dad and I go look at a '91 silver with 95K miles. The car looks nice, but the leather seat is cracking and the engine has a funny tick to it, like maybe piston slap. Decide I need to still look some more. Drive 550 miles back home. I check out a '95 Targa Black, in Sacto, but it is an automatic and the paint shows that the owner didn't take care of it. I check online, and find a '92 white with 22kmiles in Shell Beach. I drive the Integra 330 miles to go look at it. I like it. The guy won't take a personal check. I offer to come back tomorrow with wife and a cashier's check. He is OK with this and will hold the car for me with no deposit. I drive home that night, 330 miles. Next day, May 5, I go to the bank, get the cashier's check and the wife and I drive 330 miles in the Integra. On the drive home, we stop about 1/2 way to get some shut eye at a hotel. Finish he ride home in the AM. That week was a very enjoyable 2500 miles, with the last 330 being the best.

And sorry guys, with my wife being the one that talked me into making this great car purchase, there is no way in hell I'm divorcing her. She is the best wife a NSX owner could ever want, at least that's my highly biased opinion.

Mother's Day, 1994.

And my sweet wife still lets me driver 'her' car and track it! Am I a lucky guy or what?

Wow, you and I have something in common. I also drive a 1990 240SX but I've kept mine since I bought it in 97. It's my daily driver and still going at 217,500 miles on the odo!

Oh yeah, I also bought a red 94 NSX last year. Arrived on the day of my b-day! Needless to say, it was a VERY happy birthday! Best present I've ever gotten--from myself.

That's good to hear Joel, that was my origonal plan; to do exactly what you did. I was saving my money to buy an NSX in the Spring/Summer of '02, but I was hit from behind at a stop light by a 19 yr. old, drunk driver, with no insurance. Fortunately they took him to jail, and suspended his liscense, at the very least. I planned to keep the 240 as the daily driver, but all that came to an end. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt in the accident, but was unable to recover my losses from the 240. So I pushed up the plans and began the hunt for the NSX. I plan to buy something else soon to be the daily driver, but the 240 was always a good car for me. Thanks, that's good to hear.

I drove my 2000 NSXt to the dealer in Scottsdale, Az., and left it as a part of a dealer trade. Then got on a plane and flew to San Jose (I think it was San Jose) and took a van to Redwood City. Waiting for me at the Acura dealer was my all-time dream car, a new Coupe. Signed the papers, and was rolling on the dark streets of Cali that night in pure bliss. I still remember sitting on Camino Real and a stoplight, feeling like I was the king of the world. Stayed the night(late)in Bakersfield, then motored home the next morning to my home outside of Prescott, Arizona. I started with 27 miles on the odometer, and ended with over 500. One of the greatest car memories I have.
