Ok, so in the "Do you eat healthy" thread you said "I had some pro's help me with form and I just workout 3x a week."

So are you saying you spend 5-7 hours in the gym per session? Not trying to bust your balls here, just trying to understand what you write.

Days I lift it's about 3 hours total so that's 9. On my off days I do cardio about 1-2 hours a day, nothing crazy about 110 pulse stuff just to burn off some cals.

Check this link out, I do this 5x5 deal

After reading and re-reading many of the post here, i've decided to pay for a yoga(bikram) membership and take up a jogging regime. I have also slowing correcting my eating habits. The hot yoga kinda gave me a better overall feel.

14 Months so far, but I spend about 15-20 hours a week in the gym at least it's about all I do. If you think I am talking out my ass I did have 5 different trainers at LA Fitness and they all showed me exercises incorrectly, at the time I did not know but then I found these guys http://ngbb.net/Pages/Home/home.htm several people here have world records in the past and can move over 1000 pounds on some lifts.

Quick fact, with only working out for 14 months I can deadlift 425, squat 315, and bench 265 so I must be doing something right.

I am not trying to bash trainers but it's just a fact, once you get past the "new gym" part you see all the trainers run the same things on a 20 year old man or a 60 year old woman and it's from some bullshit they ripped out of men's health.

Hey that Menshealth stuff is hard! Trainer friend of mine said that the models they use can't even do the Menshealth exercises. He's always said the same thing though in that 99% of trainers are BS. Whenever we worked out he would get in to arguments with them and challenge them to do his workouts.

Ever tried jumping rope between sets to keep your heart rate up?

Naa 315 pounds on my back doing squats keeps my heart going lol. I like to split them, if I am running around a lot and not resting between sets I may miss a few reps and that will stall my progress.

What I am doing is damn hard, adding weight every week and doing new highs too but it works very well.

LOL That's that big boy weight right there!

Hey any tips on dumbell presses? I can't seem to get beyond 95lbs:confused:

Form is a huge thing on bench and dumbell presses. I think the biggest thing that helped me was when I learned to clench my back almost like I'm going to do a row.

315 squats is a good way to keep the heart pumping, but I much prefer 410 lunges.

Alright I'll give that a try.

Geez you and Ryan aren't even human ..LOL

To work out like ryanmcd2 is promoting ,you really need to have a spotter/partner to help you get your max weight.Building muscle mass is all about reaching higher wghts.Form is most important when you are pushing big weight. You will never optimize a muscle building regimen if you workout solo and use only machines. That said there is still plenty of good in any consistant exercise. The mistake some "experts" in the fitness world make when critisizing workouts ect is they forget that not everyone has genetic gifts for lean muscle mass. Not everyone responds the same or at all to routine workouts.Your average male working out alone in a gym setting would probably see better gains if he had a motivated partner, set performance goals and kept increasing the max weight.fwiw.

Do whatever the hell this guy tells you to do and you'll be fit by the time he's done

I saw him at my gym in December, it was crazy as hell watching him do those as a 'break' in between pullup sets with 90lbs on a belt.

OMG!!!

Bikram yoga is 90 minutes in session, in a room that 110 degrees. They were damn near nude in there.:biggrin:

Shut up! Damn I guess I gotta sign up now:biggrin: Hopefully it won't be the usual Michigan cows sweating and mooing in there:biggrin:

Classes are about 15 women, 20 of them were DIMES!! I felt like a BIG perv, for my thoughts!

Not perversion your just a man working out with errant thoughts is all. Think of it as motivation:wink:
