DIY Car Wash in Monterey?

Finally connected with Robert. He will be happy to come and do a car wash, but to make it his worthwhile for the drive from Santa Clara, he would like to see 10 cars. He charges a very reasonable $20 per car for mobile hand wash, and if you need some additional TLC with a wax, that will be $50. He realizes that the weather forecast will dictate his need.

As an FYI, Calvin has arranged with those of us staying at the Hilton-Garden Inn to allow car washes too.

At $20, I'm in. I don't need to hassle with microfiber towels, soap, car wash .... I like to be a tourist for a change :wink:

It's best to give Robert a head count by late Sunday or Monday morning as he may need to reshuffle some of his clients around for a Friday car wash.

Yes, we have a detailer coming to the Monterey Marriott at 5 pm Friday to wash/vac/wax 5 NSX's. Anyone else interested let me know, Gil
 
I have a call to Robert to confirm. We have about 8 cars lined up thus far and most of us are at Hilton-Garden Inn. But then again, the forecast for Saturday seems to be rain!
 
Robert has cleared his schedule for Friday so he will be available all day. He is licensed and insured; he uses professional biodegradable detailer's soap, microfiber towels and those that need some TLC 3M products.

A basic car wash with vacuum will take about 30 minutes. He is a one man show. To move 10 cars, it would be helpful if we can get the schedule of those who can line up the earliest so he can start early. A group of us have dinner commitment on Friday evening so we would like to be done by 7:30 PM.

Please post your availability with a commitment so we can tell him when to show up at the Hilton-Garden Inn.

Mike, what time will you be available?

A caravan of about 6 cars from Sacramento will be arriving to the hotel early afternoon. A few of us arriving Thursday are tied up in helping Tom setup registration on Friday morning at Laguna.

I will be arriving at the Hilton Garden Inn between 2pm and 4pm on Thursday. Maybe someone should start a list with times slots, so we know what's available.

I'd like to have a late afternoon slot, possibly around/after 5pm (I'd like to see the qualifying races, so I'll be at the track until then).
 
Hrant, do we know what time slots are available? I'm thinking late afternoon as well.

However, latest forecast also shows showers on Friday.
 
He knows that weather conditions may cancel the car wash. I will be in touch with him Thursday evening or Friday morning.

As for slots, I won't coordinate the ETA of club members for a car wash ...... my best advice is to be among the first to line up. He knows that the majority might be coming around 3-4 PM. At this pace, I will be lucky if I get my car washed .... :eek: :wink:
