I just stumbled on a good article at AutoSpeed.com describing what causes different dynos to give different readings – and there are lots of things. The article is called “Dyno Power” and can be found here: http://autospeed.com/cms/A_111155/article.html.
They start out saying, “So you reckon you know how much grunt your engine's got? Are you sure? … When was the dyno last calibrated?”
