Dealer Invoice?

Regardless of mileage, 2008 is a used car in my eyes. We're 1/2 way into 2009. The 2010s will be out in a few months won't they?
I would want 20% off invoice just based on that.

It can't be a used car if the vehicle is never registered. However, you should take in the consideration of the depreciation, that is why the dealership is offering massive discount to the car.

Also, you can't really use KBB since it is no longer accurate under current condition. The market is very unstable and the dealership will do what ever they can to move the car, without having to shut their doors.

It may not be "used", but if the '09 is available, the '08 is not really "new" either. Maybe "un-used" is a better quantifier.

Anyway, a couple more thousand off sounds to be the best one could hope for. I'm not sure it's worth losing the car you want for less than a few points on the total cost.

Just took my neighbor to pick up their new Honda CRV-EX-L today. I know the owner, through the good intro of another prime member. This is the second car that this neighbor bought from this dealer in the past 6 months. He dealt fairly and professionally with us, even though my neighbor had bought 3 Hondas from a different dealer, they refused to "deal" honestly and actually yelled at us as we left their showroom back in December. My neighbor leased the car, but it was based on dealer invoice, the $500 dealer incentive from the manufacturer, and he went halfway into the holdback. No gimmicks, add ons or any bullshi-. This dealer has a client and source of referral for life in my neighbor, and I have no problem recommending people to him. Dealing with this dealer is a pleasure. Oh, and to show you how stand up they are, the Accord my neighbor got in December had been keyed at the train station and he closed his garage door and it scratched his rear bumper, while we were doing the paper work for his wife's new car, they took his car inside, buffed it out as best they could and did a great job "touching it up". He was so thrilled. That's the way to treat a customer. He knows how competitive the market is now, he's happy making numbers and getting additional $$$ incentives from Honda because of the number of cars he's moving. The other Honda dealer advertises that you "can't buy a Honda for less", well we know that's true as they now have twice!!!

Just an update....I didn't get the car.

I'm glad I waited. Currently, the same 08's with a couple thousand miles are anywhere from 10-15K off the price the dealership was offering me.

Probably going to wait until early next year and give it another go.

Thanks for all your help, guys.

You did the right thing. When you go back in January, go on a crappy, rainy or snowy day mid-week before lunch and bring the salesman a grande latte and a fresh copy of Penthouse. Negotiate in steps and let him think he is getting the deal all along.

Just saw a GS Vette yesterday it looked very nice. Something about a wide body convertible that catches the eye.

I won't be purchasing from the dealership when I do purchase one. I was only toying with that idea because of the 0% financing from GMAC.
