New Danica pictures and videos
This weekend I had the special treat of being able to attend the Ininity / IRL race at the Nashville Speedway as a guest of the Rahal-Letterman team. That's Danica's team. I was able to go in the garage to get pictures of her HONDA powered V8 engine racecar (wouldn't that engine be sweet in the new NSX?). And I was admitted to the team hospitality suite (RV) where Danica came and talked to us. So I got a bunch of closeup pictures and a video of her talking. Not to mention all I could eat and drink. I was able to watch the race from the top of a team race rig, so there's a video from that viewpoint. The sound during the race is unbelievable. In the pictures and videos of Danica, it was about an hour before her race, so she had a race face on - she was really concentrating on the race I think, and just putting up with the public exposure that she was obviously bound to do. Here's a small picture of her, and then all the links to the big pictures and videos. Enjoy.
BTW, that guy standing next to her won the 2004 Indy 500 - Rice is his name I believe.
Here's a picture of her
Honda powered car in the garage.
Here she is
with her team. Note they are in racing suits and she's in short-shorts!
Here's long (27 megabyte) video of her talking to the crowd. My little pocket digital camera ran out of memory at the end, but there's still plenty of her talking.

I was there as the guest of the father of a driver in the Infinity Pro series, which is one step below IRL. Here's a
closeup of his car in the garage. All of them have the same Infinity engines which are not modifed much from the street car version of the engine. Note the 2 headers are connected via a pipe. I asked the mechanic why they did that, and he said to balance the engine and for sound.
Here's video during the earlier Infinity race, from the top of the race rig. These are smaller cars, so they're going at about 180 MPH.

Here's a video to capture the sound of the IRL cars going at about 200 MPH, standing at the center of the infield which is really the focal point of the curved oval. You can't see the cars, but the sound is incredible (not to mention deafening).
