The Whipple charger that Comptech used was known as the 1600AR and it had a "hump" on top of the case and the built in mounting holes like this pic.
The 1600 AX you are refering to is a newer Whipple design. I know there was something about Whipple not making their own chargers anymore, or they bought from a new manufacturer, or something I can't remember, but it happend 2-3 years ago when Comptech had to switch to Autorotor.
