Has anyone ever thought about renting their NSXs as a business on the side??? I can imagine you can charge $150 a day, since its cost roughly $200-300 a day if they are available. If you rent it out once a week, that would be some nice change every month that can be applied for upgrades and other misc. payments???

I am sure there are issues with insurance (dont know any insurance companies that would allow this) and idiots messing up your car, but im sure who knows...

just my crazy thoughts,

Khue,

Probably not worth the $$$ by letting strangers redline your car, and burn through your tires and clutch

But, how about, $20/pop for people to take photos next to your car, or sit in the car! Let's talk..,

I will rent your car for $150 a day. There are so many crazy things I do not dare to do in mine but if I could rent one.

I'll take it for $300/day. It'll go right to my house and I'll swap the parts between the cars that need replacing on my NSX.

So, what mods do you already have??

Doug H was actually considering this with the Flamemobile at www.nsxfiles.com

I don't know if he ever went through with it but he required a $10,000 deposit. I want to say it was like $400 / day he was asking.

Apparently - there is a company you can sign up with that finds the renters, advertises, provides the legal work, etc.

Try a search and you may find an old thread about it.

It's an interresting thought, for individual owners to go into bussiness like that. The reality of exotic car rental is viable with automatics or sequential transmission. The going rate for paddle shift boxsters in miami is 250-300/day 100 miles/day free. Most have found that manual trany cars don't last long. You would of course need credit card imprint and or refundable deposit.

Could be a good idea doing this on a "beater" automatic NSX (maby that has been wrecked before). I think that you can buy something like this for 18-20k$.
The NSX is probably the only car in that value range that people would pay 150-200$ a day to use!

As long as it "looks nice" people will pay, no need of engine upgrade and garage queen to do this businness. Good idea.

I bet within two weeks, you get into at least one serious argument with a customer over damage to the car. And, within six weeks, at least one lawsuit (in either direction).

Renting cars is not a casual hobby. It's a business - a serious business, with lots of costs and risks. Those that are in this business charge much higher rates for renting an NSX (typically $350-500 per day, PLUS mileage). And I wouldn't be too sure that they make money at that rate, either.

If you want to start a business, beware of the risks. Start with a business plan that outlines the market and projected revenues and costs. And make sure you have a good insurance policy that covers that kind of business (and your liability), as well as a good lawyer.

Still think it's a good idea, gheba?

nsxstasy, if you were a mechanic it would still be a good idea. I am sure you agree that the NSX is the only real bargain exotic car to rent. The value perception for the person renting it is similar to a F355 or a 911TT since the attention he will get would be *a lot*. And the experience for the average person very rewarding (not people that would notice 300 vs 400 ps). And all this for 20k$.

150$ + 1$/mile would be a good price probably.
Incidents paid by the driver and mechanical failure paid by you, the owner (you have to take some risk, with an automatic there should not be problems). I would also probably lower the redline to 7200!

But I am no mechanic...
