I'm replacing the timing belt and water pump. I know the pulley bolt it tough to remove, but before I get too carried away, is it a standard thread or a left hand thread?
Thanks.

Standard thread. ONLY turn the crank clockwise. So, lock it in place before you loosen the bolt.

Larry is not kidding about locking the pulley down. At least on some cars, mine included, this bolt was not going to come loose without really major torque ( I figure mine took more than 600 ft-lbs). A good quality crankshaft pulley locking tool is a must!

When I did my timing belt it was a easy pull with a 4 foot cheeter pipe to remove the pulley bolt. I would guess about 400 ft lb (4ft X 100lb). The fun part was putting it back on, used a 3/8 drive socket, oops, twisted off the 3/8 to 1/2 adaptor I was using. Had a 24" 1/2" extension on the torque wrench so when the adaptor snaped and released the twist in the extension it damaged the ratchet head on the torque wrench. At least it was a Craftsman so it went back for a refund, I have a Snap-On now :).

It is a tough one man job as you might gather. I watched Barn Man do it and I believe he angled the LONG handle against the alternator so he could use the Acura NSX / old style TL crank pulley wrench to loosen the bolt.

I'm now attempting this job myself. I am putting back the OEM pulley and removing the one that came with the BBSC.
Is it easier to tug on it from the top of the engine compartment?
I pulled the RR wheel off to gain easy, simple access to the bolt with the air tools and the thing basically just laughed at me.
Reading these previous posts it looks like more of a job than I feel comfortable doing. May just take to stealership and let them play with it.
