According to the NSX wiki the trim/console colors changed in 2002, and again in 2004 but this contradicts the existing part numbers:

1991: 77296-SL0-A10ZA 1991 (NH1L)
1995: 77296-SL0-A01ZB 1995 (TMFBLK)
2002: 77296-SL0-A02ZC 2002 (YR247L/Bright Brown)

1) Is there a difference between 1991 and 1995 colors?
2) Are there any differences between 2002-2005 colors?

Thanks

1991 and 1995 are the same
2002-2005 are the same
1999 zanardi (type s) is different

However 04 and 05 have blue gauges and black bezels for gauges 02-03 has black guages and surrounds that match the trim

77296-SL0-A10ZA 1991 (NH1L) "Black" in the description.

77296-SL0-A01ZB 1995 (TMFBLK) "Black Plating" in the description.

Are we certain these are the same color? I'm looking at a photo of a console from a '97, which is the second part number, and it appears to be darker than the console in my '92 which is the first part number.

I got the '97 piece, and for future reference, it's identical to my '92.

04-05 are a silver/alum color to match the radio knobs no other year matches the 04-05 color

2001-2003 are almost the same color.

91-2000 are almost the same color maybe different vendors producing them will have differences

On the left is a brand new 2005 center console and on the right is a 2002 center console. You can see the color differences. The 2005 (left) is a bit more gold than the one on the right, hence the color "BRIGHT BROWN". The part number for 2002-2003 are listed the same as the 2004-2005 so now I'm led to believe that Honda updated the color and kept the same part number and the 2002-2003 consoles are no longer produced.

Thoughts?

I noticed the same thing when looking up the part numbers, they are the same for 02-05. But I had the chance to see an 05 center console and it was much lighter and more silver in color than my 02 which is darker and more brown IMO. I think Shawn is spot on with his descriptions.

My 2002's console color matches the silver radio knobs, Shawn. Yeah I think it's the different vendors. Now it's driving me insane because if I buy a new console for my 2002 I'd have to replace everything else to match.

Are you sure the console that came in your 02 was, in fact an 02 console and not a replacement? The older OEM consoles are/were a few dollars cheaper. Maybe a previous owner decided to replace the console and the arm rest switch trim bits.

Here is a pic of a customer's 2002. This is stock. View attachment 125788Gauge faces are blue, rings are black

Did you compare the color side-by-side? I'm thinking about ordering a 97 piece since the original 91 piece is no longer available.

Yes, and I'd say it's very, very, very close - like 99% the same. The '97 piece is in my '92 now and if you didn't know it wasn't original you would not see the difference. My '92 ashtray door was in better condition than the one that came in the '97 piece, so I swapped it over and the difference is unnoticeable.

That's good news! Thanks for that info, Wavey.

I'll also agree that the 97 and at least 92 consoles are the same. I just compared my spare console from my previous 92 to my 97 and as far as my eyes can tell they look identical in color.

We have an 02, 04, 05 and 97 NSX here so I can take a peek....

Never really studied this aspect of the cars but you are right the 04/05 gauges are unique with the blue face as is on the 04 we have sitting here and same on the 05.

I just installed the 97 console trim. I have what I assume is an older ash tray, possibly from a 91...not original to the car as that one had a cf overlay and was sold with the old double-din cf clad console trim. I must say it is great having a beautiful flawless center console, although the price was almost *choke* $700 discounted from acuraautomotiveparts.com.

The ash tray door is slightly darker than the brand new console trim. It is not very noticeable unless you are looking for the difference. More noticeable in low light. This could be the result of aging on the ash tray door or it could be a slight color variation between the 91 trim and the 97. I did not get a chance to do a side-by-side of the console trim and the ashtray door with the door vent trim but I will (in direct sunlight and lower light levels) when the former is apart for a radio install in a few weeks.
