Fellow NSX owners,
This is a fairly long thread, so please bear with me. I purchased my first 'X' about three weeks ago. It is a '91 red/ivory with 72xxx miles. I had to go out of town for about 10 days after purchasing the car, therefore it sat in the garage. When I got home, I started it up, took it out for about a 30 mile spin, then parked in in my driveway. The car ran great!! With the car shut off, I realized that I had the transmission in neutral with just the parking brake holding the car in place. I kneeled down on the ground, reached inside the car, depressed the clutch with my left hand (the engine is still off at this point), placed the shifter in first with my right hand, then I heard a unique "click" somewhere under the hood. I then stepped in the car, put the key in the ignition attempting to start it up. The dash lights went off, the built in cell phone made a loud tone and the clock went out. I took the key out of the ignition switch, attempted to start it again. After about three seconds, the dash lights went back on, the engine fired right up. I then placed the car in my garage, but noticed the engine was idling very slowly. I shut the car off, went back out after about 10 minutes, adjusted the clock. I did not start the car until the following morning with no problems. Could me depressing the clutch and placing it from neutral to first with the engine off have caused this electrical issue to happen. I looked at the battery terminals, the clamps were clean and tight. Can anyone offer any opinion of what this issue is and why it happened? This happened on 7/15, it has not happened since. Thank you for all your replies.
