Comptech sway bars

You guys must be reading from a different music sheet :rolleyes::wink:

The track bar installs over the tray bar just like the OEM and not under it - so Dave is not correct with his comment "So the track bar sits under the tray"!

Though I am not familiar with the trophy bar install - based on its design and the write-up at DaliRacing's website, it should not be even close to the Type R lower bar if it sits closer to the spare tire. But perhaps it "may" interfere with the radiator hose? When installing the 1" track bar, I moved up the radiator hose clamp by about 1" max to give it more clearance - this is more of an issue for those who also want to keep their spare tire, but it also helps with better clearance with the Type R bar.

I will take a picture of my Trophy sway bar tonight when I get home and post it up. I don't know about the lower type R bar as I am running the STMPO front chassis brace.

its kinda sad that mark is the only vendor who has fabbed up a thick front bar.

I've heard and read all the war stories about Dali, but I've been lucky and have had nothing but great service from Mark... until now that is. Several weeks ago, I tried to order a set of trophy bars from him and paid in full via paypal. I usually get an immediate courtesy email from him, thanking me for the business and any relevant info on the sale and delivery. Unfortunately, this go around I got none of the above, so after two weeks of non-responses, I finally gave up and was forced to file a claim with paypal. The strange part was as soon as I filed, he must have been informed of the dispute by paypal and within minutes he issued me a full refund. Two weeks of incommunicado then he refunds me in full only after I file a claim? WTF Mark?

your story is very typical....we(prime) have many satisfied customers stating as such until the day they get shafted...

Yes, as I said, I'm quite familiar with all the love/hate. Shad, Kip and I have developed a theory about Dali's marketing strategy; As an example, he produces 9 trophy bars. He then puts his little green light on the items indicating he's open for business and accepts 10 orders and sells each bar at or below his cost. He now has 9 happy customers and one very pissed off and disgruntled customer. I thought I was that guy.

Please show said reports. The McLaren 12C's hydraulic F1-derived suspension (banned FIA technology) offers a compliant/comfortable ride at cruising speeds ("Rolls Royce-like") yet firm/responsive ride in performance arenas. It's been univerally lauded for such. A few magz-ragz journo yahoos couldn't power-slide it, so they slammed the handling/ride characteristics. The 12C (due to namely its suspension) is annihilating the 458 in any/all metrics & parameters like no Ferrari has ever been beaten. It's obscene & gruesome to say the leasts. Not a single enthusiast nor gear-head in the know would prefer the 458's suspension/handling over the 12C. The only beef anyone's had w/ the 12C is the sound/styling/soul dealio, which is all subjective...

I've actually heard otherwise from people that I know that have driven both. I heard that the 12c is much more edgy and uncomfortable to drive at the limit and the 458 is the perfect drivers car. Just what I've heard. Also, I might be wrong but I believe the 12c uses a crossover system that pushes the unloaded tire to the ground to create additional grip. Champcar used to use this concept as well.

The mclaren doesn't need swaybars bc it has active suspension. Computers/sensors measure the behavior of the car and counter the forces via hydraulic pressure. You could say it has "virtual" sways ;)

Dave a KW engineer told me you can go up or down at least 300 pounds on spring rate before worrying about revalving a damper. I can give you his number if you need to discuss.

Does anyone else know anywhere or anyone else that makes a 1" front bar?

I spoke with Mark at Dali when I figured out that he'd sent the wrong size 'street bar' for the front in place of the 'track bar' set i ordered. When I ordered the 1" OD track bars and never checked with the calipers the size just assuming that id got the correct sizes. Turns out ive been running a .089 front bar and a 1" rear bar, which explains a lot as far as how loose my car is. After the initial email exchanges trying to get the correct bar Mark didnt respond. I emailed and called a few times then actually placed a paid order for the correct size front bar and still got nothing, I let the payment ride for another 2 months before filing a paypal dispute and got an immediate refund. : /

this is a bummer and it leaves me still with the incorrect size front bar. Does anyone know where i can get one. I may just have to have one made.

You're in a large & expanding club when it comes to Dali/MJ's no-fly list including myself. Went thru the same bs when I tried to buy Trophys from him. Up until then we were exchanging christmas & b-day cards and then poof, he takes my money and puts me on his ignore list. Had to file a paypal claim and he refunded me instantly. What ever his issues are they are deliberate. All I can say is try going thru a 3rd party that he still is willing to accept business from. Good luck.

Thats so weird, it makes no sense from a business perspective. Theres a small market of people that are willing to dump money into a specialty car with specialty parts- i just cant get my head around him not wanting to fulfill the demand. I even emailed and said "Ill pay for the new bar, no exchange necessary. If they are being made and not done, ill wait, just give me a shout back" nothing but radio static. You and I must have spent a small fortune with him over the years, i just don't get it.

I recently placed an order for both a 1" and a straight trophy bar. I has been 3 weeks and no response. I haven't sent him a payment because I need a shipping quote and he has not responded to my email. Maybe he is on vacation or something.

I dont think so, my paypal dispute got a 'refund from seller' update within 10 hours, that means that someone is checking the mail.

HAHA - got you there!

OK - it's Monday 5-20-2013. We have inspected the garage floor and the epoxy guy says our concrete was "dry" and sucked up all the coating and he needs to do a 2nd coat to make it look decent. Now we can't walk on it until Friday.

Sigh.

We apologize for not being able to find anything while this is [ still ] in process.

I too got burned by him and but he did not refund my money, I had to get my bank involved and they retrieved my money as I showed email corespondance and reciepts as proof that I paid and did not recieved goods. Horrible way to do business. I wonder how many people have been burned by him?

Why doesn't someone make a clone of his Trophy bar...do a group buy and sell 10-20 in a flash?

There seems to be a demand.

You are new so I will explain it to you. LOTS of people have been burned by him. Do a search on prime, it is littered. One guy ordered 3-4K in wheels and died... and he never was sent wheels or a refund. His friends and family couldn't even get anything back.

But I suppose as long as he makes sales... I'm sorry for people losing money but you kind of have it coming when you say "well he's always been good to me".... "I've personally never had an issue".... "I get prompt service"... Until one day...

I just prefer to not buy from him because he doesn't need to screw ME in particular for me to stop. Standing with your fellow NSX enthusiasts who got screwed has some value.

Yeah why not. He clones everyone else's stuff.

i think he was talking to you Dave... :-)

Lol I will ask Nate at Comptech for a thicker bar.

Best advice I can give for people who want to buy from Dali. Treat the website like your local supermarket. Don't expect any tech support but don't expect to return it if you buy the wrong product either. He's just a one man shop who's probably sick and tired of all the BS with diva NSX customers from before of which that threshold has probably decreased to now affect normally low maintenance buyers like yourselves. I don't know that... that's just my guess. I should ask him one day.

If you have a lot of questions to ask or uneasy about buying something from Dali's site you should go shop elsewhere (like SOS, who have budgeted time for customer service in their prices) or lots of pain and heartache may come to you. I've spent thousands there and have also saved lots of money by doing so. I'm also about as low maintenance as it gets because I do as much homework as I can prior to buying. I guess it helps that I can pick it up locally but I really don't think that's the issue.

Got my trophy bar and 3mm spacers today. I've never had any other sways but stock but I think from the readings I should be good to go. Got the 1inch trophy btw.

And for the person who said he wanted a shipping quote. I paid whatever was the price in the cart, then was sent an invoice via paypal for shipping later and paid that as well. I think he even shipped my stuff before I paid the $12 shipping.

Why did you go with 1" vrs 1.125". Does the bar come with the aluminum sway bar bushings for mounting? Is the 3mm spacer needed on the front?

I didn't go with the 1.125 because it required the aluminum bushings according to the site so I went with the 1 which came with the poly bushings.

I bought the 3mm spacer for my BBK, but since then sourced another set of wheels so may not need the spacer, or even my old wheels. We'll see.

Consider yourself lucky. You must know the secret handshake. I just finished installing a 1" trophy bar and I'd be interested in hearing your observations of the installation. Mine did not line up correctly and took a quite a bit of fiddling. If you are installing yours yourself, please let us know if you encountered any issues.
