Comptech Springs?

Someone told me that the Comptech spings are same as Eibach springs. Is this true?

If not,

1) Are they more stiff and lower than Eibach or H&R springs?? The FAQ says that Comptech springs have the highest spring rates (1002/17.9 front and rear lb/in). However, this figure seems to be too high - almost 4 time more stiff than H&R's rates.

2) I know that many of you use Eibach or H&R springs with stock struts. Can Comptech springs be used with the stock shocks as well?

I did search on this, but could not find the informaiton on this.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi Yong,

Hope all is well with you. You are refering to the CompTech "PRO" kit. This is a race suspension and the numbers are correct. This is the complete suspension kit with adjustable shocks, hard bushings etc, like used on the RealTime NSX.

This would not be a choice for a street car:).

There is no "Comptech spring" -- Comptech sells different springs for the NSX. Likewise Eibach makes more than one spring, so it is confusing to simply say "Eibach springs."

Brian2by2 is talking about their "sport kit" lowering springs. These basically drop the car an inch and are a little stiffer than stock. They are suitable to use with stock shocks or similar (Bilstein, yellow Konis, etc.) and in fact Comptech sells them without shocks for that exact purpose. http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/suspension10.html

The 1000lb front springs come with Comptech's $3500 "Pro Kit" suspension at Larry explained. This is for race applications. The springs that come with this kit are not suitable to use with the standard OEM shocks or OEM replacements such as Bilstein, the yellow Konis, etc. - they need to be used with a shock like the Koni adjustable race shocks that Comptech bundles with them in their Pro Kit suspension package.

As Larry said the Pro Kit is really for serious track applications only, not suited for street use, and as such is located on Comptech's "race only" parts page: http://solar.innercite.com/comptech/nsxrace.html

Thank you so much for the clarification and help, guys!!

Now everything makes sense!!

Sincerely,
Tiger

I believe Comptech fabricates their own springs as they had problems with Eibach's consistency in their rates (I think they noted variations of 25lbs and more among springs shipped as a set).

Also, I think Comptech's springs are progressive just like the Eibachs but I am not 100% sure. I wish they put a little more details on their web.
