Comment about MB that shocked me

I recently entered my car in a local show and was also a judge. There is another local owner that brought his car out too. He and I are pretty good friends. Everytime we see each other we converse about the cars and talk about what we have done or are planning on doing in the future. He is pretty knowledgeable about the cars, or so I thought. When the time came for me to start judging I went my seperate way and wished him luck. My wife had stayed behind to watch over my car and wait for it to get judged. She overheard the other owner talking with another person and my car was the subject of conversation. The person asked about the car and said he heard it was supercharged. The owner said in fact it was. He goes on to state that it was designed and installed by 'Supposed the 3RD best NSX tech in the country'. Now keep in mind that I has a BBSC. His car is NA. I was shocked to hear that he made a comment like that! I guess he doesn't know quite as much as I thought he did.

I'd like to see who number one and two is if Mark is #3!

Maybe this guy puts a lot of stock in two techs he has had work on his car in the past. Obviously, he has never had the privilege of having Mark's fingerprints on his car before. Oh well. I suppose opinions are like a-holes...everybody has one.

Sounds like the day someone told you that Santa Claus doesn't really exist or that the tooth fairy is really your mom. Wait... no one told you?! :0 Not everyone thinks MB is NSX god. Heck, even the people who think there is a god can't agree on who it is, why should the NSX community be any different?
 
There are some objective measures, and some subjective measures.

By objective measures, I highly doubt that there is anyone in the country who has installed as many superchargers (for ANY brand) as Mark has.

There are probably fewer than ten mechanics in the country who work on NSXs, and pretty much only NSXs, all day long. Mark is one of them, and his sidekick Nick is another.

By subjective measures, I've met most of the top NSX folks from around the country. There is only one person I know in the States who knows more about the NSX than Mark, and he works at Acura HQ (and sometimes pops up here with the username of woodwork). However, this is strictly my opinion and may or may not be shared by others.

What does this have to do with anything?

Just because he made that subjective comment doesn't mean that he knows little about cars.

Who knows who the best NSX tech in this country is? Is it Mark? Or is it Larry Garcia?

Does it matter?

Also, what criteria should be used to make that determination?

I am still trying to figure out what was so shocking about your friend's comment...
 
Well since it is forced induction I think I know MB a littl better than he does. I have talked with him and know how smart he is. I guess I just have always looked at this guy as someone who doesn't really voice an opinion on anybody and to hear him say it like I thought I was something special because MB has worked on my car and not his just surprised me.
Since is car is NA most likely that means he has never had the pleasure of MB working on it for any reason and doesn't really have anything to base that statement on. That is why I brought up that point.
Guess it wasn't such a good idea to post this afterall.

People say the wildest things in the arena of ego's at the drag track/street racers/as well as the car show ring.It the whose car is better than who's car.It's a learned exercise of "restraint of tongue and pen".

No matter what you got someones got more this or more of that.As well as less of this or that.I rarely look over my shoulder.When I do ,If I've been looking straight ahead long enough. Theres noone in the rear view.

I can't say I have never gotten sucked into the stupid debates .But I'm always feeling better when I just "Let Em' Whirl" as they say.
Hey you should go see JZ in Miami theres a major show coming up the 25th of this month I think.

Everybody is probably right. I took it the wrong way. I had a bad time at the show so it might have clouded my judgement on what he said and how he meant it.

I'm all better now though.
