Coming to Phoenix/Scottsdale!

Hi everyone.

Im coming to town early December for work, but I think that since it will be cold and terrible here, and it is going to be beautiful there, that I will bring my family. Im looking for hotel suggestions.

I have two young kids (4 and 2). Im most interested in having the hotel situated in a great spot for a family and really dont care if it takes me 30 minutes to drive to where I need to be for work (Mayo in Scottsdale).

Is there any particular place in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area that I need to stay to be within a short walking distance of fun stuff for the family?

Hopefully you'll get many suggestions. I will go ahead and recommend the JW Marriott Desert Ridge which is maybe 2 miles from Mayo. http://www.desertridgeresort.com

It has a very nice layout with lots of things to do on property and is a short walk to Desert Ridge Marketplace which is an outdoor mall kind of area with shops, theater, and restaurants.

JWM is a good choice. I personally chose the Westin Kierland when I working here over the last 2 years before I moved here. Great pools (yes they have a couple) with waterslide and lazy river. The golf course is pretty good too. Only problem is getting a room this time of year.

Both of those looks great, although Im wondering if the Westin Kierland would enjoy hosting a couple feisty kids! Looks fancy!

Marriott Desert Ridge is booked up.

Im checking with the wife. Is there lots of stuff for the kids to do? Looking at the pages, it looks like lots of golf and shopping. Any kids parks/museums/fun activities for them?

Look for hotels near Scottsdale Fashion Square. One of the largest upscale malls in AZ, near Scottsdale downtown old town - lots of shopping, restaurants, etc.

Have you been there lately, Frank? What's the deal with all of the construction? Looks like they're redoing many of the common areas and stores. Hopefully they'll be finished by December.

Hey John - yep I was just there. They are doing a lot of development around the mall - a lot of new business buildings, condos, and stores.

It's going to be a mega-shopping / business / leisure complex by the time it's all done.

A great place to be for all the shopping and partying.
