Clutch Issues / Need help picking new clutch

The Exedy clutch is a good design for track use - however, it really is not designed as a street clutch. It has a more aggressive friction liner that requires more slipping (and thus wear) to smoothly engage. In addition, it is quite a bit lighter than the factory clutch, which causes accelerated wear if up and downshifts engine speed is not matched. It does require adjustment of the master cylinder after installation since its stack height is different than factory. If this is not done, it will not fully disengage which can cause accelerated wear.

Regarding our Sport Clutch & Flywheel, this is one of our top selling products for the past three years. I'm not sure what you've heard, but I think the information may be confused with the RPS Single Disc clutch we used to sell. This clutch is awesome, and with nearly 300 in the field, is a proven design. Like other clutches, it will suffer if not installed properly.

I agree with others however, the factory clutch is an excellent design and if you do not plan on increasing power over the factory output. We have a factory clutch on sale in the parts section.

^+1 on stock Oem clutch. My stock clutch still hold up after 12k miles at around 400whp. Stock Oem clutch is a reason why I haven't turn up the boost yet

BEWARE SOS Sport Clutch ... I have it in my car and it was installed by Shad at Driving Ambition who is absolutely freaking amazing as you will find on this site when it comes to NSX. The SOS sport clutch is extemelyhard to engage when the motor is warm at low RPM particularly in first gear. It is so difficult to engage in fact the entire car shudders in first when I am leaving a stop light. It drives me NUTS.
I moved from a dual disc to a single for the SOS. I dont know if that has some thing to do with it or not.

What you describe is definitely not normal. If you are having difficulty engaging a gear, it is because the master cylinder needs to be adjusted. With out adjustment, it will not release enough at the clutch will cause the disc to drag as the engine is spinning. This will cause the input shaft to spin which will make engagement difficult. Also, this clutch is very smooth when engaged, so I suspect something is going on. Please call us, and we'll get this figured out for you.

Can someone post the link the OEM clutch on sale for $1,200? SOS website price is $1,522?

Does anybody run the PG1? I only ever hear people talk about the PG2 or SOS Sport. I picked up a PG1 (have yet to install it) since it was $1000 less than a OEM NA2 clutch, I've never known Comptech to put out garbage products so it seemed like a no-brainer.

MexiRicer on here runs a PG1. PG1 was high on my list and only decided against it due to pedal pressure (though I hear it's not horrible). You can PM him.

Sounds like your clutch was not initialized properly if it was a dual disc clutch.

Well, today we dropped the tranny to get a look at the clutch and it is done. Bad pedal adjustment. Went to b*t*h out the other guy, not that it did any good he did the normal "well you raced with it" crap. Right....oh well so now I really have to make a choice on a new clutch.

Basically stuck between the OEM, PG1 or FX200. So many have brought up good points and bad ones about each. Now it's like a 3 way tie.

I do think I'm leaning a bit more toward the PG1 because I like a heavier pedal. In that same respect I'm leaning away from the FX200 because everyone says it's lighter than OEM. I'm assuming they all catch high regardless. The OEM I'm thinking about because the original held up in the car for 79k and I know the past two owners liked to drive my love like a bat out of hell.

Any final thoughts before I make a choice? I will be replacing the Master and putting on a delete just for good measure. Anymore advice would be very welcomed.

I'm happiest with a pedal a bit heavier than OEM.
That holds up for daily driving and something not as noisy as the Exedy would be nice.

Thanks again everyone at least with your help I've made up a short list to pick from.

Found a pic of my car when I first got it. The Top End Sticker is gone and replaced now with the name of my love. I will have an updated pic after I get this darn Clutch fixed. Note the 350z off the side, I'm getting it back Tueday (weeeeeeeeeee) Orange now with full skirts.
