clutch bleed - RSVP

No, there is a short hardline from clutch master to junction block near firewall & a black braided hose that pushes onto the end of the master. Is it possible one or both of these is loose? Check the little clamp for the black hose. You should hope for this, otherwise you might have cross threaded one of the flare nuts. Be certain to start all flare nuts by hand for several turns before using flare nut wrench. I got a nice set of Gearwrench flex head ones on eBay for $20. Like Drew said, don't even try using regular wrenches.

I found out when i pump the clutch, fluid leaks out of the flare nut/hardline on the top where it is connected to the mc. I tightened it but fluid still comes out when i push down the clutch. How tight does it need to be? I tightened it pretty well.Do you think i need a new hard line? Thanks

here is where it is leaking from:

I think there are 2 possibilities: hardline went in a little crooked & flare isn't seated ( I found it difficult to get both ends of that line smoothly seated & started, they sort of interfere with each other some) or those threads might be cross threaded. LarryB probably has some other ideas so I will defer to his vast experience. You probably don't want to do it, but you might have to take it off again & look.

Well a picture is worth a 1000 words:). So we are talking about the line for the MASTER, not the slave;). Sounds like this may have gotten bend somehow. This is a flare fitting, so it can go pretty tight. Never actually looked up the torque:redface:...

Is it leaking through the threads or the top at the pipe edge? If it is the pipe edge, it is either bent or damaged, if it is at the thread maybe loose, or also damamged some how.

I have had this happen to me once a few years ago, but some additional torque on the nut with a flare wrench resolved it.

LarryB

I'm at work right now, but I think it is leaking out of the top of the bolt. I will try to tighten it a little more when I get home, if that doesnt work do you think I should buy a new hardline pipe?

ok thanks for all the good advice guys, much appreciated. I fixed the leak by tightening the bolt a little more like larry suggested. This job is a pain in the butt. Atleast I saved 300 dollars on labor. Do I need to bleed the system again? It seemed to drive fine once I fixed the leak.
