Clutch Adjustment

I have a CTSC'd '91 (about 5k miles since ctsc). Just before doing the CTSC, had an Exedy clutch installed. After only about 5k to 7k miles and never lauching hard, or banging gears, my clutch is slipping hugely! It engages at the very, very top of the pedal position and I literally cannot rev above about 5k or 6k rpm's without bigtime slippage.

The only hard work the car has seen has been a dozen or so dyno runs over the past 6 months.

Is it possible this is due to the need for a clutch adjustment? Thoughts??? Thanks.

The NSX has a Hydraulic system to operate the clutch which by nature automatically adjusts for clutch wear. There is an adjustment for the clutch peddle that can be miss adjusted and can cause the clutch to slip. See the on line manual here on NSX prime and readjust to the proper free play and see what happens.

I hope you are wrong Drew, but I don't have a good feeling about this thing. I will be shocked if it is just needing a pedal adjustment.

The clutch adjustment is to allow for proper clutch pedal free play, so there is no pressure on the release bearing when your foot is off the pedal. With aftermarket clutches it could be necessary to make this adjustment. Very easy to tell, just push the pedal down with your hand, if it starts off firm from the top, it is too tight. The spec is 1mm-7mm of free play, but most OEM clutches I see have about 1/2" (12.5mm) or so without any issues, you MUST have some free play.

Isn't that the normal wear range of an Exedy clutch?

No... I have over 12k miles on mine and it's still doing great!
