Hello my name is Larry Doe...and I'm a Track Junkie:tongue:

It all started with my first track event, and next thing you know my car's on slicks with its own trailer. Waiting 3-4 weeks in between track days sucks big time. In short, I've turned to the dark side. Anyone else living this double life of a race car driver???

Sure there's drugs, sex, gambling, and even illegal street racing.
BUT FOR ME, I NEED MORE TRACK DAYS...I need my fix.

Did 2 days with Porsche, picked up a rental and arrived back Sunday at 1am, now only 53 hours left until track goes hot again. Just enough time to flush the fluid and mount the tires.

Seat time is seat time, never get enough.

Add me to the list. 3 sets of wheels, tires, spare rotors and pads, tools, stickers, trailer, truck, 22 track days this year. I think Flaming Track Junkie would be a better description.

It all started with the NSX Spring Fling of 2006 and my first track day.

Re: With that helmet, stay in the Closet

Larry, with a helmet like that (nice color BTW), you belong in Spectator Racing modifieds right there in Roseville. Oh, and way cheaper than tracking your NSX. And best news of all for you, there's no charge for crash damage (guess you can't hurt em).

The bad news is.....there's no air conditioning. :frown:

I just got back a couple weeks ago from my most recent track trip in the NSX. It covered:

three weeks
3400 total miles
eleven states
four track events
three racetracks
seven track days
536 track miles

Oh, and these were my fifth through eighth track events so far this year (three of which were in my other, non-NSX car). And remember, here in the northern part of the country, our track season doesn't start till April.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Just the exhaust fumes and smell of burning rubber is enough to make me skip work for some track time. Even thinking about going to driving school to get a race license so I have a legitimate reason to be back on the track again.

I'm deeper in the closet (dark side) than any of you guys...

I don't have enough money to afford racing, nor even buying enough track time; I need to work hard and then going to the track as long as it doesn't impact my everyday life...

but I believed I have what it takes to be a Race car driver.. If I have the money and time, I'll do whatever it takes to become a better driver...

Ted- I didn't even know this existed right in my backyard. Looks very inviting!

NSXTASY---> Your name says it all. How do you do it? You' Da Man!!!

NSXDreamer2---> If you can dream it, then you can do it. Hell, I'm racing on a budget along with family/work obligations everytime. But the camaraderie at the track and the big grin at the end of the day is quite priceless.

I'm not a closet track junkie however I see nothing wrong with being one! I'm a track junkie period and enjoy racing formula cars just got my NSX a few weeks ago and this is the best street car I've every had! I won't be tracking my NSX as the Reynard is my track queen and the NSX keeps me honest with shifting it as it is the closest feel to a Hewland mark 5-9 out there. I have had a hiatus from running my Reynard for the last two years but will get back to it this year with one or two events and then a full season again next year. Hope to see you guys at the track though!

You should meet another member here 92 white 0650 (Ted) who has an NSX but currently races his Formula Mazda:smile:

You are right I may know him already I'm not sure, but I know I seen his posts on another forum we both frequent "Apexspeed" for formula car guys. If he comes up to the Northwest and runs with the ICSCC conference guys then I have met him before. I used to run a "90 Reynard 2L car at Portland and Seattle events in the "90's and the Mazda guys were in my race group if that is what he's currently running. I was not surprised he has an NSX and he would probably say the same for me.
