Cincy/Indy/Kentucky Event

IRL if I remember correctly has the capabilities to set up a killer road course!!! I am not positive though. And no I do not want to drive my car in a big ass circle. I want CORNERS!!!!! This ain't nascar! LOL

Regarding track events - the costs of running such events has gone through the roof. It's not just the track rental itself ($4-10K per day); it's also the insurance ($4-6K for a 2-day event). In the Midwest, the club typically gets maybe ten cars for a local/regional track event, such as the ones at the Spring Fling. There are also staffing and instruction issues. You can crunch the numbers and see that these numbers make it prohibitively expensive to conduct our own track events. This is why we have "piggybacked" onto CGI events in the past; it keeps the per-person cost low and eliminates any risk of the club losing money on the event.

In case you would like to consider piggybacking onto the events of other clubs or groups, I am planning to instruct at the following events this spring, and I'm sure they would welcome us to sign up for their events (as they are not generally oversubscribed with a long waiting list, etc):

Apr 5-6 - Mid-Ohio - Northern Ohio Chapter BMW CCA
Apr 12-13 - Putnam Park - Northern Ohio Chapter BMW CCA
May 26-27 (Sat-Sun Memorial Day weekend) - Mid-Ohio - Northern Ohio Chapter BMW CCA
May 28-29 (Mon-Tue Memorial Day weekend) - Mid-Ohio - Chin Motorsports
Aug 23-24 - Putnam Park - Windy City Chapter BMW CCA

As for IRP, I've driven the road course. It's somewhat fun, although I think Putnam Park is more fun and it's also safer for beginners. I'm not sure what clubs or groups run there though. Click here to see the layout.

There are all kinds of options! I do not personally have to have a track event, I just know some people really have to have the event to make it worth while to come.

I am content with hanging out and going on some good drives.
I know Kyle knows all the roads in indiana that are decent and I can stretch us from portsmouth ohio threw wilmington to 70 and over to indy for the night with some killer back roads.

Anyway atleast we are opening up some discussion finally. Now who wants to help to get it rolling?

Ron, I didn't know if you were still around or not we havn't seen or heard of you in a while!

I personally don't need a track day. I'm good with a social gathering. Track days can be done on my own, and honestly it would take a LOT of the rigamaroo out of planning an outing if that's not something we had to deal with.

Re: Bluegrass Motorsports

This will be a good option for 2009:

Ron

Ron their website's last update was Oct when they were staking... have they started pouring concrete yet? When is the expected completion date? I thought about joining, but I am not sure how much longer I will be around - good chance that CVG will not be a Delta hub in the near future.

They will break ground during the last week of February.

Not too shabby. Do you really want to drive all the way out to Clermont though if our final destination is Indy? I think we could leave by noon, take some twisty country roads up to Brown County Indiana, Little Nashville. It's got lots of shops and crap the girls could check out while we're all out in the parking lot stroking each other over the cars. Plus we could all grab lunch and a beer or whatever. Then we continue the backroads to Indy and have dinner downtown at a nice steakhouse or something. We can end the night at Micky Blaine's Cigar & Martini Bar on the circle. Then we can just leave Indy Sunday and head for home. Baller.

Everyone that would be intested in what we're talking about, could you please reply so we can get some numbers down?

Hey Phi! Are you gonna show off all those mods you have been talking about on your threads. I have voted in your polls/threads and am anxious to see the results. I don't care how long the drive is because I will be in a NSX and will love every second of it.

I am planning a middle of the week three day trip to Chicago or Cinci in Feb w/ my gf. Do you have any suggestions for live blues or Jazz on a weeknight in Cinci? I am also looking for a romantic bed and breakfast place to stay.

I'm down if temp is above 40. Both sets of wheels have summer tires only.

I hope to be starting all this by the end of this week / beginning of next week.
6-speed tranny with Comptech Shortshift kit
RPS stage 1 clutch w/ lightened flywheel
Tein FLEX coil over system with EDS
Brembo BBK front & rear w e-brake
I'll have pics of everything for you. Just waiting on the rear BBK at this point.

As far as a good "blues" spot, you're probably going to be out of luck because you are taking your trip in the middle of the week, and most places here have live music on Friday & Saturday. I'll look into B&B's for ya. I know a few but they're in Southern Indiana on the river. Generally between Rising Sun & Madison.

I don't think we're talking about this even until spring. April or May most likely.
