You know guys, alot of the other areas of the country have a regular get togethers, annual dinners and the like. What do you guys think about having our first annual Tri-State NSX owners dinner sometime this spring? Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Lexington, Louisville are all possibilities. I'm thinking somewhere pretty nice..... probably include the wives / girlfriends if everyone agrees on it. Probably have to get dressed up a bit. Trying to keep it classy... cuz that's how we roll.

Let me know what you think. If you're interested, PM me with your email address and maybe I can get a little group email going on the side with updates and such.

Fifth NSX Club of America Midwest Region Annual Dinner on Saturday, March 29, 2008???

Sounds like a great idea, but be aware that there is already such an event going on for NSXCA members. It may be a little north of what you have envisioned, but it is a sanctioned event. Here is the email that I received from Ken Sax:

We will be hosting the Fifth NSX Club of America Midwest Region Annual Dinner on Saturday, March 29, 2008:

Black Ram
1414 Oakton Street
Des Plaines IL 60018
847-824-1227
http://www.blackramsteakhouse.com

If you are interested in checking out the Black Ram's menu, and/or getting directions to the restaurant, you can find them on the restaurant's website.

We will meet at 6:30 pm for cocktails, and sit down for dinner at about 7:30. Attire is casual to business casual.

The NSX Club of America will subsidize a portion of the dinner cost for club members and their spouses/guests.

If you are planning to join us, please send me an e-mail by Friday, March 21, so that I can keep track of the number of people on the reservation.

This is a great time to meet up with old friends, as well as meet new friends, especially at the end of winter when many of us have had our NSX in hibernation. We are pleased to be returning to the Black Ram again this year. They specialize in steaks and seafood (including terrific prime rib - yum! ). Their gracious hospitality in the past will again be on display. (The owner of the restaurant is the original owner of the NSX now belonging to one of our members in Wisconsin.)

Yes, I am aware of this dinner. It's kind of the reason I'm trying to get one together here. I think there are people here in this area that would like to get together and do things, but unfortunatly all of the "mid-west" activities seem to be "chicago area" activities. I won't speak for everyone in this area, but personally I'm not interested in driving north of Chicago for dinner. But if it was within an hour, hour and a half I'd be in. So I'm trying to get something together for the people here.

Well, by that logic, guess I can't attend your event seeing that it is over an hour and a half away from me. C'mon man, you have to admit that your excuse sounds pretty pathetic.

I'd drive to Columbus... dude call it what you want. I'm not driving to F-ing NORTH of Chicago for a steak. You C'mon. Besides.... we need to start getting our own things going in this neck of the woods anyway. This sub-forum is a great start..now we need to start meeting up and doing stuff together.

We can do lunch if you want. I was thinking something in the spring so we can have time to get ready for it. Plenty of time for people to plan to be there and for me to call someone and let them know how many will be in attandance. But I'm down for Lunch on Saturday. Anyone else?

Are we doing a Spring Fling again this year? Last time I went it was in South Bend, IN.

Maybe a Kings Island event?? Or a good drive through the hills of Northern KY??

Re: Cincy/Indy/Kentucky Event (spring fling?)

Sure. I'd do a spring fling. We need to start getting some heads together. What are some good places to drive to? I'll start looking at nice back roads to get there. What do you guys think about driving down to Belterra Casino on the River for a night?

I live down in Florence so I know lots of good driving roads just South of me.

I am game for Quaker Steak & Lube though Sat... 1pm OK???

Captain... I'm not sure we're going now. You didn't reply until just this morning. Brian and I thought we were going to be the ONLY ones showing, and he and I just hung out last night. Give me a call and maybe you and I can meet closer to us.... Florence, Mineola Pike...Lawrenceburg. 513-266-7934

Captain (Jim) and I met up at Smokey Bones in Florence for lunch on Sat. Good time. It was good meeting up. We really all need to start getting together more often. If it's nasty out, we don't even have to bring the cars. I just like getting ideas flowing all the time.

I like that place! Not the >#&@** cheesy "riverboat" casino but the golf course!
Hotel is quite nice as well. I'll be checking this thread to see when you
plan to meet there.

Hi guys,

Just a few thoughts...

You may want to consider holding your event - a dinner or whatever - as an NSXCA event, rather than simply whichever NSXprime members happen to hear about it event. If it's an NSXCA event, there are a couple of benefits: (1) all club members in the area can be notified, increasing attendance, and (2) club funds can be used to subsidize the event (typically only for attendees who are club members, which includes all of those who have posted here). Nothing says that our dinner in the Chicago area has to be the only club dinner of the year.

Also, if you're interested in holding an event that's more than just a meal, the club has held its "Spring Fling" event in May the past few years, and nothing has yet been planned for this year. This is usually an event consisting of meals and social activities (such as a group drive, museum tour, winery visit) on Saturday and Sunday, and has been combined with a Monday CGI track event at GingerMan - sort of like a mini version of NSXPO. Maybe you would like to plan and host the club's Spring Fling event in Ohio this year. I'm not sure whether the dates and location would enable it to be combined with a CGI event, and that's up to you; it would be nice but there's no law that says it must.

Let me know if I can answer questions and/or otherwise assist.

Ken,

Very interesting you posted that, I am looking into a few things and would love NSXCA to be a good part of it. I am looking into starting afternoon ( say 3pm) at belterra casino. Club photo shoot- nice drive along the ohio river-back to belterra for dinner, drinks and gambling- next moring pack up leave at 10 ish- go on long drive say 2.5-3.0 hours. End up near indy? have lunch- try to get Indy raceway park for a small version of a track day??? - dinner-and thats kind of where I'm stopped as of now. I am still working on it. Hope to make it a 2 or 3 day event? What are some other thoughts?

That's a good idea. I really wanted to have the casino's involved somehow. I'm not even into gambling, but I'm into the food and the amenaties.
I think some of the back roads through Indiana are fantastic. I'm not 100% positive, but I thought IRP was just an oval track.... hell if we're gonna do that we could check into taking a drive through Kentucky and ending up at the Kentucky speedway. A MUCH BIGGER oval and it's practically across the river from Belterra. I'm not really psyched about running NSX's in a circle though. Are you guys?
