If this was mass produced, I'm sure they could be going for $20 a pop. I guess it's the rarity that makes it worth something... although 1K is extreme.
If it were available retail for a normal price, I sure would buy one legal or not. It could be useful for special occasions.

You could build something with far more capability for less than half the price. Actually I could add it to my mp3 player I'm working on with very little effort.

Streetglow will be releasing this product this Jan. at CES. It is in their 2001 catalog. It will sell for less than 100 from what my rep says.
