Thanks for the illustrations. But My main issue is that I don't have an outlet to plug into in a community garage. Buying a bigger battery woukd only last 2 or 3 weeks in the cold temps here.

If the car is being stored for the winter, just remove the negative battery cable. The car can sit for 6-7 months without a charge required.
I have to do that with two cars I have in storage that sit 6 months at a time without a charge.

Warrenw is an electrical expert so would trust his comment.
I've read lead acid batteries self-discharge at about 5 % per month.
Why don't you charge your battery fully then leave it disconnected?
You'd be okay for 6 months.
Would be a lot simpler than trying to rig up solar panels on the NSX roof charging through an OBD connection no?

If the car is going to be parked in a covered garage for extended periods of time and you don't have access to 120 V AC, then your only option is disconnecting the battery if you don't want to visit the car to start it up and charge the battery on a regular basis. The solar charger is a non starter (excuse the pun). To ease the battery disconnection process, there are battery post mounted switches that allow you to isolate the battery 'at the flick of a switch'.
I have a ski boat that sits for up to 9 months in a shed with no power. Cheapy 12v solar panel straight to the battery and as a bonus run a 12v movement sensor led light off the boat battery which illuminates the whole shed if someone enters. I figure that will scare any criminal away! Been like that for 4 years now and battery fine and always heaps of cranking amps.
