just changed my worn brake pads to Carbotech Panther Plus...haven't got a chance to go to the track yet..so can't feel the difference b/t OEM and Panther Plus.
However, I did found out that disconnect the parking brake line on the rear brakes are not necessary.
Just remove the caliper guard and remove the two caliper bolts and slide the caliper off.....then rest the caliper on the lower control arm.
replace pads, turn the piston clockwise till the caliper has enough clearance for the new pads and then slide the caliper back in.
put the two caiper bolts in and you're done.
I really don't know the reason of removing the parking brake thing.....not necessary.

I think:

The parking brake locks the pads to the disc. If your car isn't on the lift, then your parking brakes are engaged to prevent your car from rolling (doing one side at a time). If its on the lift, then the parking brake is disengaged already and may not need to unhook the assembly....because your car should not roll away ;) ...
