so does the entire tail light have to come out just to remove the center tail light or can it be removed on its own...???

looked at SOS DIY not sure if i understood it correctly

who else has removed the emblems in the rear....thats my project this weekend?

any pics?

Centre "light" (it's not a light - no lamp of any description in there) comes out by itself.
Just remove the carpet piece on the rear wall to access the 4 nuts. You'll need a short extenion on a socket drive to get in there - I want to say 8mm from memory. 1/4" drive kit would be most conevenient because it's comapct.
Be careful when re-installing & not over-tighten - all too easy to break the studs out of the plastic.

Very easy to pull the threaded stock out of the plastic...

And that is true indeed. I am a victim of overtightening the nuts  I found a way to fix this if it happens. You can use a small hose clamp to tighten around the knurled head portion of the fastener. I had to use a hack saw to cut the plastic so the hose clamp would fit flush and not interfere with re-installing it. I'll post pics if someone else is in this predicament and wants to try this out.
