Jumped the wires tonite and got these code 2 short flash paused and followed by 1 short flash. Do I need to replace my 02 sensors if yes which one and how it cost to buy the sensor and service hours.

Also the car has 80k+ on the odometer. Rich fuel coming from exhaust and dirty new spark plugs. The engine oil still good.

Thanks. Waiting for reply. :frown:

Two number codes are "long" "short" combinations so I do believe the the codes are 1 and 2, front and rear O2. See the test procedure in the online manual sec11 page 30 to trouble shoot.
2nd that - as my code reading for "22" was two long and two short blinks - are we right, Larry?

Thanks for the quick responses. I was on dial up so search is slow for me. I was reading somewhere that all Honda O2 sensors are the same with an exception on the length of the wire. Is this correct as waiting for the NSX O2 sensors will take me another 3 months. :frown:

For those who have use after market O2 sensors how are car running now?

Have you ever replaced the coil packs? Failing coil packs can emulate 02 error codes. I learned this by having my 02 sensors replaced TWICE by mechanics before I purchased and installed a complete set of coil packs myself. Easy job; even I can do it.

Also, I think I have aftermarket 02 sensors (Bosch?) and have had no problems.

I have new coil packs to replace the rusted one. Another question is my NSX is 91 model so it is OBD1 right? This means I only need two O2 sensors, right?

Not necessarily. Depends on the model version. E.g.: Mine is a german '98 model and is neither OBD I nor OBD II. Maybe your car has also no OBD plug. Usualy even the early U.S. cars have OBD.

Mine is French spec. Its a 91 so how many O2 sensors do I need?

I interpretted this as a code 21. Recheck and see if the first two blinks are longer.

They are short flashes for both Code 2 and Code 1. From the way the car behave I feel they are the O2 sensors (carbon deposits on new plugs, exhaust fume reach in fuel).

Thanks NSX racer. I will ask if they have any Honda O2 sensors at the dealership.

Hello again. After burning more than BND1K from my bank account I manage to get the two sensors from Honda agent here. Correct me if I'm wrong, the rear one has longer wire right?

Okay so I replaced the rear O2 sensor with the OEM NSX part and fro the front I use EK4 O2 sensor (have to splice and solder to the original). So far the engine does not give any CEL at the problematic RPM range (2000-4000). Have to go back to the workshop later to get the car road tax (mechanic forgot to put it back). Have to monitor the condition again in a few days. BTW no more rich fuel coming out from the exhaust.

Day 3

Sweet driving this morning. Car runs smoothly.
