cel #52 and #1

when reading the codes it gives me 5 short blinks and two short blinks. Then it gives me one long blink. the long blink, is that code #1?

The longs are always used for double digit codes. Each long would be a multiple of 10.

I recently read off 41. That was indicated by 4 longs and one short. After a *longer* gap, it repeats the same again. The longer gap is what you need to sync to. When you write down the codes (after you look at the repeating seq for a while) try to write down the length of the gap between the blinks (short/long).

Once you do that, you can figure out if it is

5, 2, 10

or

15 2

Im still kinda confused. this is exactly how it goes.
when i turn the key the first thing it does
5 short quick blinks
gap
2 short quick blinks
long gap
1 long blink
starts over.

what codes do i have.

Reset the codes by pulling the clock fuse drive the car just till you get a CEL and then reread. The long blink at the end does not make sense. Did you over heat your car and thats what took out the head gaskets.

the car never overheated actually. it just started to leak water in piston #6.
so i had a shop who knows what there doing take it apart and replace them. i had the heads resurfaced and pressure tested and took x-rays for hairline cracks. it all checked out fine. the head gasket was intact and noticed a small little brown spot where we believe the water was coming in from only when car was heated. after it was put together the idle was bouncing up and down and shutting off. the vtec doesn't seem to kick in or notice any veriation on oil pressure. finally on a test run the cel came on and now this is where i stand. oh and power doesn't feel so good. HELP!

See the on line service manual in the FAQ's here on NSX prime and follow the trouble shooting guides for each of the codes. When there are problems (codes) functions like vtec are disabled until the ECU is happy again. So I would not be concerned about it until you get all the other issues cleared up.

Warren,

This is really not the place to investigate this, based on your situation. Let the techs that put it back together fix it. If the car has a roaming idle, no power, no VTEC, there is an issue like a vacuum leak, wiring issue, etc.

It does appear that these codes are ambiguous at best. This is very difficult to diagnose via forum posts, let them handle it, if, as you say, they know what they are doing. Frankly, you should have never gotten it back, if it has these running issues.

If it really is a 5,2, & 10 I would bet it is a bad ground wire on the engine. This indicates bad map sensor, bad intake air temp, and a bad 02 sensor, very unlikely ALL these things have gone bad.

I insisted taking it back because of the weekend. It's going back to the shop tomorrow. thank you for all the help. I wanted to fix it myself. Again thank you very much.

they checket all the wiring and nada. There going to do a leak down test if that checks out then they are going to remove the intake manifold and put it back together. hopefully that will fix the problem. by the way cel #2 what would you say about that?
