Cars and Coffee, Tucson La Encantada 8-7-10

EDIT: THE MEET IS ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 14TH!!!!!!!

Looking to meet other Tuscon area NSXers, and I figured that a good opportunity would be the next Cars and Coffee car meet at La Encantada (NW corner of Skyline and Campbell). I heard it's the second Saturday of each month, starting at 7-ish and going until it just gets too damn hot. August 14th is the date for the next one, so I'm going to plan on being there. Hopefully, mine won't be the only NSX there! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you locals since I'm the "new guy" down here now.

I just received an e-mail message from Dave Jackson, who organizes the Cars and Coffee gatherings in Tucson. The next meeting will be on Aug. 14th (not the 7th). I've only been once, but I think the gatherings are always on the second Saturday of the month. Although attendance is lower in the summer, there was an interesting collection of cars to check out last month. I would encourage anyone who owns an NSX and lives in or near Tucson to attend one of these events. I hope to see you there. Dennis

Hey - there was a small group that showed up at La Encantada anyway! We don't need a bunch of Corvettes to have some fun!

RONSXTC, MJK, Tuconsx and Myself. Had a great few hours of talking and sharing NSX stories and discussing the latest on the NSXPRIME forums. You guys are all a bunch of fun and have some great info to share.

Tucsonsx - thanks a TON for the test-drive. I have been lusting after a '05 LBBP and never even been out on a date with an NSX before. I guess you popped my cherry in that gorgeous '94 in showroom condition. I will never be the same - I owe you one.

Oh sh*t, I knew it was the 14th. Why did I say it was the 7th? Wow, it's the Alzheimer's kicking in. I had to work this morning, so I knew I wouldn't be there. Jeez. Sorry, guys, hope you had a good time without me! I will most certainly be there next weekend as I had planned all along.

Your post successfully got me off my duff for a local meeting for the first time since moving here ... over 2 years ago. The attendance did seem a little slim, but I had a good time anyways.

For those that showed up, this is what the 7 year old said to her mom when she got home "the hot chocolate was good, but all they did is sit around and talk about cars. I'm staying home next time." So much for the next Danica Patrick huh?

Nice photos MB and great looking cars. I hope some of you who were at La Encantada on the 7th will return on the 14th. I've only been to one Cars and Coffee gathering and attendance was down because of summer temps. Just the same, an interesting array of cars showed up. My car was the only NSX that day, and it attracted quite a bit of attention. NSX sightings are getting to be rare and some of the kids at the gathering probably know the car primarily from video games. A note about the starting time: I arrived at 9 A.M. and left about 10:30. A few other cars left about then, but most stayed later. Also a few cars arrived while I was there. I don't think it's necessary to arrive at 7 A.M. to see most the cars that turn up on any given Saturday. Another note based on my limited experience: The cars gather at the north end of the parking lot in front of AJ's. I think this is an attempt to stay in the good graces of business owners. Cars and Coffee was originally held at a location with a smaller parking lot and when they started filling all of the available spaces, the group was asked to leave. Even with summer attendance down, Cars and Coffee should be an interesting impromptu car show. I hope to see you there. Dennis

I'll be there. Looking forward to meeting some fellow NSXers. One of the bicycle groups I ride with usually starts their Saturday ride from La Encantada. I've seen some really nice vehicles show up. Last month there were a couple of F430's, F360, Aston Martin DB9 (I think), Audi R8, one of the cleanest 427 Cobra replicas I've ever seen, Turbo Supra, a whole fleet of Corvettes (supercharged/Z06/yada yada), some kind of small car (RX-7 or Miata) with an LS-1 stuffed in it, and a 475HP Black NSX with the SOS blower and low comp 3.6 build. Oh, and a couple of Mustangs.

Great to see everybody out there. Was getting a little warm past 9:15am - going to be 106 today in Tucson!! I had to run to my pool.

It was a treat to see some great looking NSXs at Cars and Coffee and nice to meet all of you. It appeared to me that the NSXs attracted as much attention and compliments as anything at the show. I guess that's not surprising when you look at MB's photos. Thanks for posting them. Dave Jackson is the man who has been organizing Cars and Coffee.
