I have been working on these XP Tie Rod replacements (along with some other XP suspension parts to come) for some time now. The original idea was to replace this OEM part with one that is of a higher quality and performance. In addition, the wearing parts (heim joint) can be serviced separately in the future if needed (at a much lower cost than replacing the entire rod).

Construction:
The barrels are machined from 6061 aluminum and have been sized to exceed the strength of the factory cast material at 1/2 the weight. The hardware and taper are made from grade 5 Titanium and includes a special oversized nyloc Titanium nut (eliminated the castle nut). This material is very strong, light and more resistant to scaring than aluminum. This makes the connecting surface very strong. I have also had a custom boot made to keep dirt and moisture out of the joint for longer wear. The boot is a "split" design that can be installed after the tie rod is installed and aligned. Together the assembly is a direct replacement for the factory tie rod.

The total length of the XP Tie Rod is the same as the factory part. This makes it easier to do the initial installation/alignment. It is necessary to have the suspension aligned professionally after installation to make sure the car is set correctly.

In addition, the total weight is less than 1/2 of the OEM part it replaces.

The price will be $259/set without the boots and $10 more with the boot.
I am trying to get some feedback on the number of people that would want these so we can set up a production schedule. Currently, we only have a few prototypes that we were using for testing.
This is a great part to replace your worn tie rods.

Gorgeous kit. Seems simple enough. Have you done any track/street testing with them?

I have had a set on my car for some time and without the boots. I was trying to create a failure or lash in the joint. They have held strong and tight. I have also done lateral tests at over 6000lb with no failures. The Heim joint has a Kevlar insert and is rated for 15,000 pound load. They are not cheap $10 ones.

Nice

Jeff, i'm in pending a few questions.

I had designed a set of these for a previous car. I found that raising the knuckle by way of taller ball joints fixed much of my bumpsteer issues. Does the NSX have this issue in the tie rods and could this be a possible fix? I haven't looked into it and just barely installed the front non-compliance clamps so I haven't really noticed bumpsteer yet (if any). My setup still feels "new" to me.

These heim joints, if low quality, end up being quite noisy (NVH). Have you experienced much here from this?

Will you also provide something for the inner tie rod? It's often replaced due to wear IIRC.

I need to go thru and replace all my tie rods soon so this is rather good timing for me!

I have not noticed much of an improvement in bumpsteer. I have noticed a "crisper" feel in the steering. But I honestly attest that to the old OEM ones being in marginal shape to begin with.

I have not noticed any noise or clanking. I just took them off to inspect and they were very tight. On my car, I have a 255 tire on the front with a very low offset. I would think that puts a lot of punishment on them (more so than a non-widebody set-up)

I have not looked at the inner rod (yet). I am currently testing replacement ball joints in a configuration that has not been offered before. I just need to make sure they take all the punishment and lateral load.

This came like 2 weeks too late for me

why is this threaded? length looks adjustable?

I'm in the market for replacement too. I'll be interested.

+1 I am interested too. I will be in USA in October for 14 days holiday. Will these be ready by then?

pardon my stupidity...but is this for front suspension:confused:

ok count me in.

Nice...in. please keep me updated.

Me too. While mine are only 3 years old and low miles, the "cool factor" is almost pushing me into a set:redface:. 90% of the stuff on my car is not necessary.
